The endemic delphacid genus Malaxella Ding & Hu (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha: Delphacidae) from China is reviewed and two species, including a new species, M. tetracantha n. sp. (southern China: Hainan) are recognized. The genus and the species are described and illustrated. A key to the species of the genus is also provided.

One new species of the genus Ctenophora Meigen, 1803, C. fumosa Men, sp. nov. (southern China: Anhui) is described and illustrated. A key to known species along with a checklist of known species of the genus Ctenophora are provided. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the animal specimen room, School of Life Science, Anqing Normal University, Anqing, Anhui Province, China. 

Four enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) strains from four children with influenza-like illness were identified in Shenzhen, southern China, in late 2015. Here, we announce the availability of these viral genomes in GenBank. The genomic sequences of these EV-D68 strains showed the closest phylogenetic relationship to strains from northern China.

The males of Euophrys atrata Song & Chai,1992 and Euophrys bulbus Bao & Peng, 2002 are described and illustrated for the first time from southern China.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) strain CHYJ130330 was isolated from southern China and shown to be highly virulent when inoculated into neonatal pigs. This report describes the complete genome sequence of CHYJ130330. These data will provide important insights into the variation of PEDV in China.

A new species of the water scavenger beetle, Laccobius (Cyclolaccobius) martini sp. nov., is described from Shiwandashan, southern Guangxi Automomous Region, China. Digital photographs of several useful taxonomic features are provided. Additionally, the identification key to Laccobius (Cyclolaccobius) of China and neighbouring countries is updated to include this new species.

Piccola golovatchi sp. nov. is described and illustrated. It comes from the limestone cave called Shizikou Dadong, Tianlin County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, southern China. This species is considered to be a troglobite, showing a pallid tegument and extremely enlongated antennae and legs. This is the first record of the millipede genus Piccola Attems, 1953 from China.
