By assuming the existence of (quasi)-linear Regge trajectories for 25-plet mesons in the low energy region, we derive a new, 14th power, meson mass relation. This relation may be reduced to a quadratic Gell-Mann–Okubo type formula by fitting the values of the Regge slopes of these (quasi)-linear trajectories. Such a formula holds with an accuracy of ∼ 2% for vector mesons, and E-mail: BURAKOV@P...
The world is changing and changing fast. Contemporary students live in a world full of impressions, fast changing viewpoints, ubiquitous information, zapping behaviour, play and joy etc. They use facilities such as MSN, on-line gaming, and SMS. They expect a seamless access to information, mostly in a social context. At the same time we see drastic changes in learning environments, moving them ...
Photoaffinity labeling methods have allowed a definition of the sites of interaction between Taxol and its cellular target, the microtubule, specifically b-tubulin. Our previous studies have indicated that [H]3*-(pazidobenzamido)Taxol photolabels the N-terminal 31 amino acids of b-tubulin (Rao, S., Krauss, N. E., Heerding, J. M., Swindell, C. S., Ringel, I., Orr, G. A., and Horwitz, S. B. (1994...
In the past decade functional neuroimaging has been extremely successful in establishing functional segregation as a principle of organisation in the human brain. Functional segregation is usually inferred by the presence of activation foci in change or statistical parametric maps. The nature of the functional specialisation is then attributed to the sensorimotor or cognitive process that has b...
The present study investigates Foreign Language Enjoyment (FLE) and Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety (FLCA) in the classroom. Participants were 1746 current FL learners from around the world. We used a measure of FLE, based on Likert scale ratings of 21 items (Dewaele & MacIntyre, 2014), and a measure of FLCA based on 8 items extracted from the FLCAS (Horwitz, Horwitz, & Cope, 1986). Statisti...
Emotional intelligence, as concerned with how an individual recognizes and regulates his or her emotions, has been in limelight quite recently. The present study seeks to fill a small gap in the literature on emotional intelligence, together with foreign language anxiety and empathy. To this end, short literary readings are used in a cognitive-affective reading-based course to see how emotional...
We present the application of computer algebra systems (CAS) to symbolic construction of algebraic equations describing different ordered as well as stochastic magnetic structures. We start with formal and exact, however non-tractable from the numerical point of view, Callen equations. Then, we apply the integral operator method (based on the integral representation of Dirac delta function) and...
S. D. Baalrud,∗ J. D. Callen, and C. C. Hegna Department of Engineering Physics, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1500 Engineering Drive, Madison, WI 53706-1609, USA (Dated: September 16, 2008) Abstract A generalization of the Lenard-Balescu equation is derived that includes wave-particle scattering by collective instabilities in finite space-time domain plasmas. It is shown that wave-particle ...
