A 1,000 nm wide supercontinuum, spanning from 1470 nm in the telecom band to 2470 nm in the mid-infrared is demonstrated in a 800 nm x 220 nm 1 cm long hydrogenated amorphous silicon strip waveguide. The pump source was a picosecond Thulium doped fiber laser centered at 1950 nm. The real part of the nonlinear parameter of this waveguide at 1950 nm is measured to be 100 ± 10 W -1m-1, while the i...
Spectrofluorometric imaging microscopy is demonstrated in a confocal microscope using a supercontinuum laser as an excitation source and a custom-built prism spectrometer for detection. This microscope system provides confocal imaging with spectrally resolved fluorescence excitation and detection from 450 to 700 nm. The supercontinuum laser provides a broad spectrum light source and is coupled ...
In this paper we present the development of a new direction in so-called optofluidics , namely research photonic crystal fibers (PCF) infiltrated with liquids. particular concentrate on flagship application PCF, process Supercontinuum Generation (SG), which injected monochromatic pulse may be dramatically broadened (spectrally), creates coherent beam generation high brightness comparable to tha...
Combining the molecular specificity of the infrared spectral region with high resolution microscopy has been pursued by researchers for decades. Here we demonstrate infrared supercontinuum radiated from an optical fiber as a promising new light source for infrared microspectroscopy. The supercontinuum light source has a high brightness and spans the infrared region from 1400 nm to 4000 nm. This...

Short lengths of highly nonlinear bismuth-oxide fiber are used to generate smooth supercontinuum spanning from 1200 nm to 1800 nm, with sub-0.5 nJ pulse energies. The spectral broadening in a 2-cm length of this fiber was used to compress 150-fs pulses to 25 fs.
We discuss a proposed experiment on guiding of a high-repetition rate, 20 GW, CO2 laser beam in a gas-filled hollow glass waveguide. Extended interaction of the 3ps pulses with a gas Kerr medium will be used for measurements of nonlinearity at 10 um, and supercontinuum generation followed by pulse compression. Feasibility of 3-5 keV X-ray production via HHG is presented.
We report supercontinuum (SC) generation centered on the telecommunication C-band (1550 nm) in CMOS compatible hydrogenated amorphous silicon waveguides. A broadening of more than 550 nm is obtained in 1cm long waveguides of different widths using as pump picosecond pulses with on chip peak power as low as 4 W.
