A (large) multicast ATM switch with external structure of output queueing and internal structure of buflered MINs (multistage interconnection networks) M considered, where the buffered MIN (also called switching network) is composed of switching elements with shared buffer output queueing. Cell replication wht!e routing scheme is used in the switch to implement multicast function. In this paper...
SOLUTIONS TO CONSTRAINED PATH COMPUTATION IN MULTI-LAYER NETWORKS Shujia Gong, PhD George Mason University, 2007 Dissertation Director: Dr. Bijan Jabbari Traffic Engineering methods as applied to traditional IP networks rely on link attributes advertised by link state protocols, such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS). Extending link state p...
Status of This Memo This memo provides information for the Internet community. It does not specify an Internet standard of any kind. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. Abstract This document provides an applicability statement on the use of Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching (GMPLS) protocols and mechanisms to support Basic Mode Layer 1 Virtual Private Networks (L1VPNs). L1VPNs prov...
Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) had been deployed by many data networking service providers、 including the next-generation mobile backhaul networks, because of its undeniable potential in terms of virtual private network (VPN) management, traffic engineering, etc. In MPLS networks, IP packets are transmitted along a Label Switched Path (LSP) established between edge nodes. To improve the ...
Multi-Protocol Label Switching provides a flexible forwarding mechanism within communication networks. Since its inception at the end of the last century it has been recognised that multipoint-to-point label switched paths offer a valuable way of further simplifying the forwarding process particularly within IP networks. Whilst work has been carried out into schemes for the formulation of such ...
This paper presents the problem of finding the minimum cost dispatch and commitment of power generation units in a transmission network with active switching. We use the term active switching to denote the use of switches to optimize network topology in an operational context. We propose a Dantzig-Wolfe reformulation and a novel column generation framework to solve the problem efficiently. Prel...
Low power VLSI testing is indispensible in switching components and number of hardware/software-based techniques has been still developed to minimize the dynamic power dissipation. In earlier days, primary concerns of VLSI design were focused in area, performance, cost and reliability. But in current years, the design constraints have begun to change because of increasing low power testing. XOR...
This paper proposes reliability improvements to the Cluster Based Routing Protocol (CBRP). Estimation of link reliability to facilitate alternate route redundancy together with the use of adaptive power control is introduced. Network performance is improved in terms of packet delivery ratio, average delay and overheads while at the same time operating at lower transmission power.
|We consider optical networks using wavelength division multiplexing, where the path a signal takes is determined by the network switches, the wavelength of the signal, and the location the signal originated. Therefore, a signal is routed through a combination of circuit switching and wavelength routing (assigning it a wavelength). We present a bound on the minimum number of wavelengths needed ...
