Regulatory T cells (Treg) are key players in the maintenance of peripheral tolerance. As a result of suppressive effects on CD4+ and CD8+ effector T cells, Treg control the adaptive immune system and prevent autoimmunity. In addition, they inhibit B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, and monocytes/macrophages. It is interesting that several recent papers show that CD4+CD25+ Treg are also able to inh...

BackgroundReinforcement of the immune-regulatory pathway is a feasible strategy for prevention and therapy allergic asthma. The short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) acetate, propionate, butyrate are pleiotropic microbial fermentation products known to induce regulatory T (Treg) cells exert an effect. cellular mechanism underlying SCFA immune regulation in asthma not fully understood.ObjectiveWe inve...

CD4(+)CD25(+)Foxp3(+) regulatory T cells (Treg) have emerged as a dominant T cell population inhibiting anti-tumor effector T cells. Initial strategies used for Treg-depletion (cyclophosphamide, anti-CD25 mAb…) also targeted activated T cells, as they share many phenotypic markers. Current, ameliorated approaches to inhibit Treg aim to either block their function or their migration to lymph nod...

Regulatory T (Treg) cells have emerged as a distinct subset of lymphocytes that are responsible for limiting immune responses and avoiding pathologic autoimmunity. Evidence is accumulating that defects in Treg function are important in immune-mediated diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We discuss herein the biology of Treg cells and emphasize what is known about Treg dysfunction in RA.

Background: Euphorbia plants are traditionally used in folk medicine for infections, inflammation, and cancer. Objectives: To investigate the effects of the butanolic extracts of Euphorbia micorociadia and Euphorbia osyridea on specific transcription factors and cytokines expression of T cell subsets. Methods: Activated mouse splenocytes were cultured in the presence of non-cytotoxic concentrat...

Natural CD4+CD25+ regulatory T lymphocytes (Treg) are key protagonists in the induction and maintenance of peripheral T cell tolerance. Their thymic origin and biased repertoire continue to raise important questions about the signals that mediate their development. We validated analysis of MHC class II capture by developing thymocytes from thymic stroma as a tool to study quantitative and quali...

Abstract Regulatory T cells (Treg) have a pivotal role in tolerance and immune homeostasis. In autoimmunity, Treg are destabilized degenerate, loosing Foxp3 expression compromising their regulatory function, while gaining effector cell (Teff)-like phenotype. Upon loss-of-function, development gives rise to heterogeneous population of (ΔTreg). ΔTreg retain the core transcriptome epigenetic impri...

Th17 cells play an active role in inflammation and autoimmune diseases. However, the nature and regulation of Th17 in the context of tumor immunity remain unknown. In this study, we show that parallel to regulatory T (Treg) cells, IL-17(+) CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cells are kinetically induced in multiple tumor microenvironments in mice and humans. Treg cells play a crucial role in tumor immune path...

Abstract Background Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), an autoimmune liver disease, presents with progressive damage to the intrahepatic bile ducts infiltrating mononuclear cells and appearance of anti‐mitochondrial antibodies (AMAs). The initiation disease is permissively mediated by dysfunctional regulatory T (Treg cells). Naïve CD4 + cultured splenic B220 without additional cytokines or chem...
