The dried fruit of Terminalia chebula is widely used for its laxative properties. The objective of the present study was to examine the flowability and compressibility of Terminalia chebula fruit powder, subsequently developing its tablet formulations by utilizing wet granulation and direct compression technology. Initial studies on flowability and compressibility revealed that the fruit powder...
Angiogenesis represents an excellent therapeutic target for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. It is a potent physiological process that underlies the natural manner in which our bodies respond to a diminution of blood supply to vital organs, namely the production of new collateral vessels to overcome the ischemic state. This present study is aimed to evaluate and quantify the Angiogenic...
BACKGROUND Cellular damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) has been implicated in several diseases, and hence natural antioxidants have significant importance in human health. The present study was carried out to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant and reactive oxygen species scavenging activities of Terminalia chebula, Terminalia belerica and Emblica officinalis fruit extracts. METHODS...
Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) is a causative agent of the most frequent viral infections of man. Since the non-human host range of HBV is restricted to a few animals, such as, chimpanzee, the development of new therapeutics for HBV has been hampered. Several cell lines were developed to identify potential therapeutics against HBV infection. One of these, the HepG2 2.2.15 cell line, was derived throug...

According to this practice the purification of the herb is to remove the seed from the ripen fruit before processing into medicine. Changes in the chemical profile of Terminalia chebula before (with seed TCS) and after purific...
Terminalia catappa and subspathulata are two species of the Combretaceae family medium to large forest trees. The fruits T. known for edible nuts commonly as tropical almonds due their similarity in taste with commerce. Therefore, chemical profiles were examined ascertain potential value food or health uses. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GCMS) ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography-el...
Japanagromyza inferna Spencer is recorded for the first time from Brazil, in the North coast of the State of Rio de Janeiro, inducing galls in Centrosema virginianum L. (Fabaceae). The species is redescribed, with illustrations of male and female terminalia. A key to the identification of the Neotropical species of Japanagromyza Sasakawa is presented.
A new minute-size empidoid fly genus, Gondwanamyiagen. n. and two new species (Gondwanamyia chilensis Cumming & Saigusa, sp. n., Gondwanamyia zealandica Sinclair & Brooks, sp. n.) are described, illustrated, and their distributions mapped. The family and subfamily assignments remain uncertain, but features of the female terminalia potentially suggest Trichopezinae (Brachystomatidae).
Five New World species of Chrysotus Meigen are redescribed, four of them herein transferred from Diaphorus Meigen: C. angustifrons (Robinson), comb.nov., C. maculatus (Parent), comb.nov. (= D. maculipennis Robinson), C. robustus (Robinson), comb.nov., C. spectabilis (Loew) and C. wirthi (Robinson), comb.nov. The female of C. maculatus is described for the first time. Terminalia of both males an...
The holotype male of a nominal species described from Italy, Calliphora bezzii Zumpt, 1956, including a microscope slide of its terminalia, was examined. The holotype is shown to belong to the Nearctic taxon Calliphora latifrons Hough, 1899. Thus, Calliphora bezzii is a junior synonym of C. latifrons, syn. nov.
