Novel quinoline derivatives was designed as anticancer iron chelators. Structurally they combine active moieties of known quinoline and thiosemicarbazone bioeffectors. For the synthetic part of study we applied microvawe assisted techniques MAOS. Resulted compounds exhibited interesting anticancer activities against HCT116 cancer cells.
Triapine (3-aminopyridine-2-carboxaldehyde thiosemicarbazone), which entered several phase I and II clinical trials as an antitumor chemotherapeutic agent, was found to possess intrinsic fluorescence properties (lambda(ex) = 360 nm), which enabled us to monitor the uptake and intracellular distribution in living human cancer cells by fluorescence microscopy.
The title compound, C(18)H(16)Br(2)N(4), is a linear double Schiff base compound having two parallel 4-bromo-phenyl groups connected across a crystallographic inversion centre by flexible C-C and C=N-N=C bonds and stabilized in the solid state by weak inter-molecular Br⋯Br inter-actions [3.7992 (11) Å], generating an infinite two-dimensional network structure.
