Inspired by work of Lipshitz-Sarkar, we show that the module structure on link Floer homology detects split links. Using results Ni, Alishahi-Lipshitz, and establish an analogous detection result for sutured homology.

The first half of this note concerns modules; so let R be a nonzero associative ring with unit. A countably infinite direct product of copies of R, which we will usually regard as a left R-module, will be written R (ω denoting the set of natural numbers); the corresponding direct sum, i.e., the free left R-module of countably infinite rank, will be written ⊕ ω R. Here, now, are the two not-alwa...

in this paper we study the module contractibility ofbanach algebras and characterize them in terms the conceptssplitting and admissibility of short exact sequences. also weinvestigate module contractibility of banach algebras with theconcept of the module diagonal.

The H.264/AVC is the most recent standard of video compression/decompression for future broadband network. This standard was developed through the Joint Video Team (JVT) from the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group and the ISO/IEC MPEG standardization committee. In this project H.264 decoder functional block such as Context based Binary arithmetic coding (CABAC), Inverse Quantization and Inverse D...

We devise a communication-efficient approach to distributed sparse regression in the highdimensional setting. The key idea is to average “debiased” or “desparsified” lasso estimators. We show the approach converges at the same rate as the lasso as long as the dataset is not split across too many machines, and consistently estimates the support under weaker conditions than the lasso. On the comp...

Auxiliary Ca(2+) channel beta subunits (Ca(V)beta) regulate cellular Ca(2+) signaling by trafficking pore-forming alpha(1) subunits to the membrane and normalizing channel gating. These effects are mediated through a characteristic src homology 3/guanylate kinase (SH3-GK) structural module, a design feature shared in common with the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) family of scaffol...

We consider the problem of estimating the inverse covariance matrix by maximizing the likelihood function with a penalty added to encourage the sparsity of the resulting matrix. We propose a new approach based on the split Bregman method to solve the regularized maximum likelihood estimation problem. We show that our method is significantly faster than the widely used graphical lasso method, wh...

Our concern is deriving genus distributions of graphs obtained by surgical operations on graphs whose genus distribution is known. One operation in focus here is adding an edge. The other is splitting a vertex, for which the inverse operation is edge-contraction. Our main result is this Splitting Theorem: Let G be a graph and w a 4-valent vertex of G. Let H1, H2, and H3 be the three graphs into...

The cell cycle dependence of radiation-induced apoptosis was measured using mitotically synchronized REC:myc(ch1) and Rat1:mycb cells. Cells in S and G2 phases were more susceptible; the apoptotic fraction was about 0.7-0.8 as compared to about 0.4 for G1 cells at a dose of 10 Gy. Two-dimensional cytofluorimetric analysis of cells, pulsed-labeled with bromodeoxyuridine and then irradiated with ...

Abstract: This paper proposes two architectures of 2-D discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and inverse DWT (IDWT). The first high-efficiency architecture comprises a transform module, an address sequencer, and a RAM module. The transform module has uniform and regular structure, simple control flow, and local communication. The significant advantages of the single transform module are full hardwar...
