ZnO films were prepared on p-Si (111) substrates by using atomic layer deposition. High-resolution x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), photoluminescence (PL), and I-V measurements were carried out to characterize structural, electrical, and optical properties. After introducing a 60-nm-thick AlN buffer layer, the growth direction ...

Different ZnO nanostructured films were electrochemically grown, using an aqueous solution based on ZnCl2, on three types of transparent conductive oxides grow on commercial ITO (In2O3:Sn)-covered glass substrates: (1) ZnO prepared by spin coating, (2) ZnO prepared by direct current magnetron sputtering, and (3) commercial ITO-covered glass substrates. Although thin, these primary oxide layers ...

Gallium doped zinc oxide (GZO) thin films have been prepared by a simple sol–gel spin coating technique. XRD results showed the preferential c-axis orientation of the crystallites and the presence of the wurtzite phase of ZnO. A lowest resistivity of 3.3 × 10−3 cm was obtained for the ZnO film doped with 2 at% of Ga after post-annealing at 500 ◦C for 45 min in a H2 atmosphere. All the films sho...

Two different types of lasing modes, vertical Fabry-Perot cavity and random lasing, were observed in ZnO epi-films of different thicknesses grown on Si (111) substrates. Under optical excitation at room temperature by a frequency tripled Nd:YVO₄ laser with wavelength of 355 nm, the lasing thresholds are low due to high crystalline quality of the ZnO epitaxial films, which act as microresonators...

Silver nitrate induces spontaneous room temperature transformation of ZIF-8 into a composite of ZnO nanorods embedded in a ZIF-8 matrix. This first example of reverse transformation of ZIF-8 into ZnO is a convenient method for generating fixed ZnO nanoparticles in powders as well as films and coatings. The fabricated ZnO nanorod@ZIF-8 is photocatalytically active.

The tuning of structural, optical, and electrical properties of Al-doped ZnO films deposited by atomic layer deposition technique is reported in this work. With the increasing Al doping level, the evolution from (002) to (100) diffraction peaks indicates the change in growth mode of ZnO films. Spectroscopic ellipsometry has been applied to study the thickness, optical constants, and band gap of...

In this study we present a three-step process for the low-temperature chemical bath deposition of crystalline ZnO films on glass substrates. The process consists of a seeding step followed by two chemical bath deposition steps. In the second step (the first of the two bath deposition steps), a natural polysaccharide, namely hyaluronic acid, is used to manipulate the morphology of the films. Pre...

Nanostructured ZnO thin films were prepared by sol-gel dip coating technique. Zinc acetate and ammonium hydroxide were used as precursors and ethanol was as solvent. Ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) solution was added drop-wise under vigorous stirring to obtain the sol-gel of different pH (varying from 6.9 to 7.2). ZnO thin films were obtained by dipping the glass substrates for few seconds and then ...

Optical nonlinearities of spin coated ZnO thin film have been investigated by using single beam Z-Scan technique in the visible region. Xray diffraction shows that all films are oriented along the c-axis direction of the hexagonal crystal structure. The average optical transmittance of all films is higher than 80 %. The nonlinear optical parameters viz. nonlinear absorption coefficient (), non...

Sputtering of ZnO is a well-known technique.'9 The application of sputtered thin films of ZnO has mainly been as surface acoustic wave transducers. To our knowledge nobody has yet used these films as detectors for UV radiation. Measurements of the intensity of UV radiation, for example in medical applications in connection with UV irradiation of the skin, are very inaccurate due to the lack of ...
