All-solid-state lithium batteries (ASSLBs) are considered as an alternative solution to lithium-ion batteries, because of their safety and high theoretical energy density. Argyrodite-based solid-electrolytes (SEs), Li6PS5X (X = Cl, Cl0.5Br0.5 or Br), promising candidates for ASSLBs. Most the previous reports have used Li6PS5Cl default SE composition. Here, electrochemical behavior three differe...

We study variable range hopping in the quantum Hall effect regime in the presence of a metallic gate parallel to the plane of a two-dimensional electron gas. Screening of the Coulomb interaction by the gate causes the partial “filling” of the Coulomb gap in the density of localized states. At low enough temperatures this leads to a substantial enhancement and a new temperature behavior of the h...

We experimentally investigate the first-order correlation function of a trapped Fermi gas in the two-dimensional BEC-BCS crossover. We observe a transition to a low-temperature superfluid phase with algebraically decaying correlations. We show that the spatial coherence of the entire trapped system can be characterized by a single temperature-dependent exponent. We find the exponent at the tran...

Regime shifts have been reported in many marine ecosystems, and are often expressed as an abrupt change occurring in multiple physical and biological components of the system. In the Gulf of Alaska, a regime shift in the late 1970s was observed, indicated by an abrupt increase in sea surface temperature and major shifts in the catch of many fish species. A thorough understanding of the extent a...

Computer simulations and computational diagnostics are used to study a Monte Carlo Brownian walker moving through a glass of immobile force centers. Clear evidence for distinct trapping, hopping, and hindered-diffusive regimes is seen in the mean-square displacement and the probability distribution P(r ,t) for a step r during delay t . In the hopping regime distinct time scales for intratrap an...

Natural environments are characterized by daily and seasonal fluctuations in temperature, and ectotherms are expected to adapt to these fluctuations. Moderate temperature fluctuations often accelerate development rate as a result of the Kaufmann effect and possibly additional physiological adaptations. We examined the adaptive potential of ecotype-specific reaction norms by measuring the effect...

We analyze the dynamics of model supercooled liquids in a temperature regime where predictions of mode coupling theory (MCT) are known to be valid qualitatively. In this regime, the Adam-Gibbs (AG) relation, based on an activation picture of dynamics, also describes the dynamics satisfactorily, and we explore the mutual consistency and interrelation of these descriptions. Although entropy and d...

Abstract Catalysts based on Cu nanocrystals (NCs) for electrochemical CO 2 ‐to‐C 2+ conversion with high activity have been a subject of considerable interest, but poor stability and low selectivity single C product remain obstacles realizing sustainable carbon‐neutral cycles. Here, we used the facet‐selective atomic layer deposition (FS‐ALD) technique to selectively cover (111) surface NCs ult...

The low temperature regime of non-Abelian two dimensional ferromagnets is investigated. The method involves mapping such models into certain site-bond percolation processes and using ergodicity in a novel fashion. It is concluded that all ferromagnets possessing a continuous symmetry (Abelian or not) exhibit algebraic decay of correlations at sufficiently low temperatures. PACS: 05.07.Fh.05.50+...

Using an analogy with an Ising-like spin model, we define microcanonical measures for the dynamics of three dimensional (3D) axisymmetric turbulent flow in a Taylor-Couette geometry. We compute the relevant physical quantities and argue that axisymmetry induces a large scale organization in turbulent flows. We show that there exists a low energy, low temperature regime, for which the orthoradia...
