A high-accuracy, calibration-free technique to measure the electrical conductivity of molten oxides has been developed-the coaxial cylinders technique. Because the melt under investigation cokes in contact only with metal and not with anything dielectric, the new technique enables the measurement of the electrical properties of liquids inaccessible by classical high-accuracy techniques. Two coa...

Epoxy nanocomposites with multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) filler up to 0.3%wt were prepared by shear mixing and good dispersion of the MWCNTs in the epoxy was successfully achieved. The electrical behaviour was characterized by measurements of the alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) conductivities at room temperature. Typical percolation law behaviour was observed with a low pe...

In an attempt to correlate the performance of superconducting radiofrequency cavities made of niobium with the superconducting properties, we present the results of the magnetization and ac susceptibility of the niobium used in the superconducting radiofrequency cavity fabrication. The samples were subjected to buffer chemical polishing (BCP) surface and high temperature heat treatments, typica...

The capability of the AC dielectrophoresis (DEP) for on-chip capture and chaining of microalgae suspended in freshwaters was evaluated. The effects of freshwater composition as well as the electric field voltage, frequency, and duration, on the dielectrophoretic response of microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii were characterized systematically. Highest efficiency of cell alignment in one-dimensi...

We have studied the AC response of a hopping model in the variable range hopping regime by dynamical Monte Carlo simulations. We find that the conductivity as function of frequency follows a universal scaling law. We also compare the numerical results to various theoretical predictions. Finally, we study the form of the conducting network as function of frequency.

The ac Hall effect can provide valuable insights into the dynamics of an electronic medium. This has recently been demonstrated in the case of high-Tc superconductors [1,2]: Various theoretical models based on different scattering mechanisms agree that the anomalous frequency and temperature dependences of the Hall effect are closely intertwined, but they differ in their predictions about these...

One of the important issues in the analysis of soils is to evaluate their features. In estimation of the hardly available properties, it seems the using of Data mining is appropriate. Therefore, the modelling of some soil quality indicators, using some of the early features of soil which have been proved by some researchers, have been considered. For this purpose, 140 disturbed and 140 undistur...

The supramolecular crystal {[Pr(DMFA)](3)[Ni(II)(Hbim)(3)](2)I}(n) with intricate chiral networks of [Ni(II)(Hbim)(3)](-) molecules is reported. It includes a cationic architecture as a guest, constructed from chiral nanotubes that penetrate I(-) chains with spiral channels wrapped by triple helices. The I(-) chains have AC conductivity in crystals like a molecular cable.

Charging ahead: separate values for the simultaneous electronic and ionic conductivity of a conjugated polymer containing poly(3-hexylthiophene) and poly(ethylene oxide) (P3HT-PEO) were determined by using ac impedance and dc techniques. P3HT-PEO was used as binder, and transporter of electronic charge and Li(+) ions in a LiFePO(4) cathode, which was incorporated into solid-state lithium batter...

We study the sliding state of a two-dimensional Wigner crystal in a strong magnetic field and a random impurity potential. Using a high-velocity perturbation theory, we compute the nonlinear conductivity, various correlation functions, and the interference effects arising in combined AC + DC electric effects, including the Shapiro anomaly and the linear response to an AC field. Disorder is foun...
