A new similarity measure and nonlocal filters for images corrupted by multiplicative noise are presented. The considered filters are generalizations of the nonlocal means filter of Buades et al., which is known to be well suited for removing additive Gaussian noise. To adapt this filter to different noise models, the involved patch comparison has first of all to be performed by a suitable noise...

We introduce a notion of weak intersection number of a collection of sets, modifying the notion of intersection number due to J.L. Kelley, and obtain an analogue of Kelley’s characterization of Boolean algebras which support a finitely additive strictly positive measure. We also consider graph-theoretic reformulations of the notions of intersection number and weak intersection number. Kelley [4...

In this paper, X denotes an arbitrary nonempty set, a lattice of subsets of X with ∅, X∈ , A( ) is the algebra generated by and M( ) is the set of nontrivial, finite, and finitely additive measures on A( ), and MR( ) is the set of elements of M( ) which are -regular. It is well known that any μ ∈M( ) induces a finitely additive measure μ̄ on an associated Wallman space. Whenever μ ∈MR( ), μ̄ is c...

We consider direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA), modeling interference from users communicating with neighboring base stations by additive colored noise. We consider two types of receiver structures: first we consider the information-theoretically optimal receiver and use the sum capacity of the channel as our performance measure. Second, we consider the linear minimum mean ...

In this paper we deal with the problem of obtaining the set of k-additive measures dominating a fuzzy measure. This problem extends the problem of deriving the set of probabilities dominating a fuzzy measure, an important problem appearing in Decision Making and Game Theory. The solution proposed in the paper follows the line developed by Chateauneuf and Jaffray for dominating probabilities and...

In the field of construction, sustainable building materials are currently undergoing a process of technological development. This study aims to contribute to understanding the behavior of the fundamental properties of concretes prepared with recycled coarse aggregates that incorporate a polyethylene terephthalate (PET)-based additive in their matrix (produced by synthesis and glycolysis of rec...

We show that under certain general conditions any finitely additive measure which is defined for all subsets of a set X and is invariant under the action of a group G acting on X is concentrated on a G-invariant subset Y on which the G-action factors to that of an amenable group. The result is then applied to prove a conjecture of S. Wagon about finitely additive measures on spheres. It is well...

The problem of estimating a complex measure made up by a linear combination of Dirac distributions centered on points of the complex plane from a finite number of its complex moments affected by additive i.i.d. Gaussian noise is considered. A random measure is defined whose expectation approximates the unknown measure under suitable conditions. An estimator of the approximating measure is then ...

This paper deals with the problem of efficiency assessment using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) when input and output data are given as fuzzy sets. In particular, a extension measure inefficiency proportions, well-known slacks-based additive measure, is considered. The proposed approach also provides targets. Computational experiences comparison other DEA approaches reported.
