Background and Purpose: Mycotoxins are secondary fungal metabolites with a very high diversity that are produced by some species of Aspergillus which frequently leads to contaminate food and agricultural products. Recently, elimination of aflatoxin contamination in food and feed has been considered by scientists worldwide. Although, the antibacterial and antifungal effects of vitamins as natura...

Studies in animals and humans have established serum aflatoxin-albumin adducts as biomarkers of exposure to aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a food-borne hepatocarcinogen. To assess the utility of measurements of aflatoxin-albumin adducts to predict risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), 123 male F344 rats were dosed with 20 microg of AFB1 daily for 5 weeks after randomization into three groups: no interv...

Aflatoxin B, and benzo(a)pyrene were activated by both cultured human bronchus and human colon as measured by binding to cellular DNA and protein. The binding of aflatoxin B, to DNA was dose dependent, and the level of binding was higher in cultured human bronchus than it was in the colon. When compared to aflatoxin B,, the binding level of benzo(a)pyrene to both bronchial and colonic DNA was g...

Aflatoxin M1 is the foremost metabolite of aflatoxin B1 in humans and animals, which may be present in animal products from animals fed with aflatoxin B1 contaminated feed. In this study a high performance liquid chromatography method for determination of aflatoxin M1 in eggs was described. The egg samples were diluted with warmed water and the toxin was immunoextracted followed by fluorescence...

aflatoxin b1 (afb1) is a secondary metabolite produced by some aspergillus species, which haveharmful impacts on human health such as carcinogenicity, teratogenicity, acute and chronic toxicity.in this study, the occurrence of afb1 in pistachio nuts during various preparing processes wasinvestigated in two pistachio farms from qazvin province, iran, from september to november 2012.high performa...

Background: This cross sectional study was conducted to evaluate the effect of &gamma-rays and electron-beam irradiation with a commercial toxin binder-milbond-TX on the performance, feed components, and meat quality of Japanese quails challenged with aflatoxin B1. Methods: Overall, 168 One-d-old chicks (Japanese quails) were allocated to eight treatments with three replicates based on a com...

RNA synthesis (5, 8, 20), a secondary consequence of inhibition of RNA polymerase activity (6, 9, 10). The present experiments were undertaken to provide further information on several aspects of hepatocyte nuclear responses. Specifically, earlier studies have, for the most part, involved observations made at one or a few fixed time intervals following toxin treatment. Also, they have often bee...

background: aflatoxins cause health hazards to human and animals and has also economical problems. therefore, the detoxification effect of citric acid was investigated in rice as the main food of iranian people. methods: initially 275 samples of rice were examined for aflatoxins by hplc. the aflatoxins contaminated samples were later treated by aqueous citric acid and detoxification of aflatox...

West African Aspergillus flavus S isolates differed from North American isolates. Both produced aflatoxin B1. However, 40 and 100% of West African isolates also produced aflatoxin G1 in NH4 medium and urea medium, respectively. No North American S strain isolate produced aflatoxin G1. This geographical and physiological divergence may influence aflatoxin management.
