This work presents different techniques to increase the sensitivity of commercial MOSFET (no RADFET) to demonstrate their potential as dosimetry sensors with electrons beams (for IORT) and gamma radiation. Different models of commercial MOSFET were irradiated in unbiased and biased mode, to select the best candidate and configuration for each type of radiotherapy.
PURPOSE To improve patient safety and treatment quality, verification of dose delivery in radiotherapy is desirable. We present a simple, easy-to-implement, open-source method for in vivo planar dosimetry of conformal radiotherapy by electronic portal imaging device (EPID). METHODS Correlation ratios, which relate dose in the mid-depth of slab phantoms to transit EPID signal, were determined ...
BACKGROUND The European directive on basic safety standards (Council directive 2013/59 Euratom) mandates dosimetry-based treatment planning for radiopharmaceutical therapies. The directive comes into operation February 2018, and the aim of a report produced by the Internal Dosimetry Task Force of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine is to address this aspect of the directive. A summary ...
BACKGROUND Preclinical radiation biology has become increasingly sophisticated due to the implementation of advanced small animal image guided radiation platforms into laboratory investigation. These small animal radiotherapy devices enable state-of-the-art image guided therapy (IGRT) research to be performed by combining high-resolution cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging with an isoc...
There is a long history of absorbed dose calculations being performed to evaluate the risks involved in the application of radiopharmaceuticals to medical studies. In the 1940s, Marinelli, Quimby, and Hine (1–3) published a set of articles that presented a summary and approach to radionuclide dosimetry. In 1956 Loevinger et al. (4) summarized the field at that point, and then in 1968 the newly ...
introduction: in radiotherapy, methods of treatment planning are becoming increasingly more complicated. this requires verification of the doses delivered to increasingly smaller and more precise regions. radiotherapy techniques are continuously employing smaller and smaller field sizes to deliver tighter radiation doses with higher therapeutic ratios, generating interest among researchers to p...
UNLABELLED The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has a long tradition of supporting development of methodologies for national networks providing quality audits in radiotherapy. A series of co-ordinated research projects (CRPs) has been conducted by the IAEA since 1995 assisting national external audit groups developing national audit programs. The CRP 'Development of Quality Audits for ...
