There are many di erent approaches either for the localization of sound sources or for tracking of visible objects in image sequences. However, most applications use only one modality, that is, they process only audio or video information for object localization. In this paper we introduce a method for the estimation of object positions based on joint audio-video information. The key technique ...
Audio On-‐the-‐Go: the Headphones Era With the advent of streaming music and video services and the increasing miniaturization BLOCKIN
Integrated media workstations are increasingly being used for creating, editing, and monitoring sound that is associated with video or computer-generated images. While the requirements for high quality reproduction in large-scale systems are well understood, these have not yet been adequately translated to the workstation environment. In this paper we discuss several factors that pertain to hig...
Our goal in the PRO-DASP project within the DFG priority program VIVA has been the development of a rapid-prototyping environment for functional verification and test of digital signal processing algorithms. We have realized a power-optimised technology independent macro-module library to support a fast and efficient design methodology. The library is embedded into a design-framework which supp...
This paper presents a common framework for subband doubletalk detectors. Within this framework a number of low-complexity subband doubletalk detectors are evaluated in comparison with a corresponding fullband detector. The evaluation is performed by using real-data offline calculations. The evaluation indicates that the subband approach significantly improves the performance.
In this talk, we present some applications of information geometry to audio signal processing. We seek a comprehensive framework that allows to quantify, process and represent the information contained in audio signals. In digital audio, a sound signal is generally encoded as a waveform, and a common problematic is to extract relevant information about the signal by computing sound features fro...
There are typically four steps in producing a CD or movie soundtrack, as shown in Figure 1. In tracking sounds are recorded or synthesized and arranged in tracks. The tracks are then processed in the mixing stage to form a stereo or multichannel mix. The idea is to arrange the sounds spatially and spectrally, to manipulate their character for artistic purposes, and also to fix problems in the t...
Application of digital signal processing to audio is often limited by available converter technology and recorder datawidth to processes with controlled dynamic range. In digital mixing consoles some analogue gain control is normally required to achieve adequate performance for the input channel ADCs and digital multi-track recorders. This paper examines such dynamic range bottlenecks and deriv...
We analyze the requirements for digital signal processors used in audio applications. Methods for assessing the real computing power expected from them are presented. Proper requirements for a real-time development platform are also described. Code development tools are also included. Finally a review of common processors is done according to those criteria.
