Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is a vaccine used to prevent tuberculosis. It made from live, attenuated strain of Mycobacterium bovis . When injected into the human body, it causes mild infection that produces immunity tuberculosis bacterium. The BCG primarily as preventive measure against in children, and generates special resistance disease. To honor its inventors, French scientists Ca...

Intravesical instillation of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is used as an adjuvant treatment bladder cancer. Systemic BCG infection occurs in less than 1% cases, and pulmonary involvement even rarer (0.3% – 0.7%), with a favourable prognosis. A 78-year-old male developed miliary tuberculosis (TB) secondary to intravesical subsequent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) superinfection that led pa...

Cockroaches were collected from hospitals, houses and poultry sheds in various parts of Isfahan (Iran) and identified to species. In total, seven species of cockroaches in seven genera were identified: Blatta lateralis, Polyphaga aegyptiaca, Arenivaga roseni and Parcoblatta spp. Three species Periplaneta americana, Blattella germanica and Supella longipalpa (Blattidae and Blattellidae) were mor...

Pyroptosis is a host immune strategy to defend against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection. S100A4, calcium-binding protein that plays an important role in promoting cancer progression as well the pathophysiological development of various non-tumor diseases, has not been explored Mtb-infected hosts. In this study, transcriptome analysis peripheral blood patients with pulmonary (PTB) reve...

The host response to mycobacterial infection depends on host and pathogen genetic factors. Recent studies in human populations suggest a strain specific genetic control of tuberculosis. To test for mycobacterial-strain specific genetic control of susceptibility to infection under highly controlled experimental conditions, we performed a comparative genetic analysis using the A/J- and C57BL/6J-d...

Introduction: Salmonellosis is an infection caused by eating contaminated food with Salmonella, and it can occur in humans and other animals. Salmonella has acquired the ability to create the infection due to the presence of several virulence genes. One of the virulence genes of salmonella is sipC gene that coding the SipC protein. The aim of this study was creating the gene cassette to genetic...

BACKGROUND Alcoholics are at heightened risk for developing active tuberculosis. This study evaluates chronic alcohol consumption in a murine model of vaccination with Mycobacterium bovis Bacille Calmette-Guèrin (BCG) and subsequent pulmonary infection with virulent Mycobacterium tuberculosis. METHODS BALB/c mice were administered the Lieber-DeCarli liquid ethanol diet or pair-fed the liquid ...

Heat shock protein 60 (hsp60)-specific CD8 T cells lysed Mycobacterium bovis BCG-infected macrophages in vitro and adoptively transferred protection against mycobacterial infection. Moreover, CD8 T cells with this hsp60 specificity were activated in vivo by BCG vaccination. Our studies suggest there is participation of hsp60-specific CD8 T cells in BCG-induced immunity.

PURPOSE In the present study booster efficacies of Ag85 B, Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG), and Ag85B peptides were evaluated using prime boost regimes in BALB/c mice. MATERIALS AND METHODS Mice were primed with BCG vaccine and subsequently boosted with Ag85B, BCG and cocktail of Ag85B peptides. RESULTS Based on analysis of immune response it was observed mice boosted with Ag85B peptides sho...
