OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to assess in vitro the antimicrobial activity of 2% chlorhexidine gel against Enterococcus faecalis , comparing it to other endodontic irrigants (2% chlorhexidine liquid and 5.25% sodium hypochlorite). STUDY DESIGN Eighty roots of human mandibular premolars were prepared by serial instrumentation technique, autoclaved, and contaminated for 7 days with E fae...

For many plant species, nutrient availability induces important anatomical responses, particularly the production of low-density tissues to the detriment of supporting tissues. Due to the contrasting biomechanical properties of plant tissues, these anatomical responses may induce important modifications in the biomechanical properties of plant organs. The aim of this study was to determine the ...

We propose computer vision-based biomechanical analysis for construction field workers. Taking into account the fact that the number of fatalities in construction is the highest among all industries [1], and that the unsafe acts and behavior of workers cause 80% to 90% of accidents in construction [3,5,7], the systematic understanding of field construction workers’ unsafe behavior has great pot...

The objectives of this study were to obtain biomechanical responses of post mortem human subjects (PMHS) by subjecting them to two moderate-speed rear impact sled test conditions (8.5g, 17 km/h; 10.5g, 24 km/h) while positioned in an experimental seat system, and to create biomechanical targets for internal and external biofidelity evaluation of rear impact ATDs. The experimental seat was desig...

The purpose of the paper is to apply monotone multigrid methods to static and dynamic biomechanical contact problems. In space, a finite element method involving a mortar discretization of the contact conditions is used. In time, a new contact–stabilized Newmark scheme is presented. Numerical experiments for a two body Hertzian contact problem and a biomechanical application are reported.

This paper examines the evidence for the role of dural attachments in the biomechanical and patho-physiological manifestations of Spinal Subluxation. The scientific literature is reviewed in relation to anatomical, biomechanical, physiological and clinical considerations. The paper examines the implications of these factors in the context of “Tonal” Chiropractic models. © Dr Nick Hodgson 2006 w...

The authors describe the podiatric biomechanical management of the child and adolescent with Down syndrome. They also present an overview of the genetics, general characteristics, orthopedic problems, and gait of these patients. They discuss the various approaches to the biomechanical problems associated with the syndrome, and present two case histories that demonstrate common considerations in...

BACKGROUND The hip's biomechanical state affects its future development. Therefore, a relevant biomechanical evaluation would be of use in assessing hip dysplasia. Recently, a noninvasive method was developed to determine stress on the weight-bearing area of the hip. The biomechanical assessment was compared with Severin's radiographic classification. MATERIAL/METHODS Standard anteroposterior...

There is considerable debate on the extent to which biomechanical properties of movements are taken into account before and during voluntary movements. For example, while several models have described reach planning as primarily kinematic, some studies have suggested that implicit knowledge about biomechanics may also exert some influence on the planning of reaching movements. Here, we investig...
