We consider Gribov’s equation for inverse quark Green function with and without pion correction. With polar parametrization of inverse quark Green function, we relate the dynamical mass function without pion correction, M0(q ) and with pion correction, M(q) at low momentum. A graph is plotted for M(q) and M0(q ) with q for low momentum. It is found that at low momenta pion corrections are small...

An updated analysis of vector and axial-vector spectral functions is presented. The resonant contributions to the spectral integrals are shown to be expressible as multiples of 4π 2 f 2 π , encoding the scale of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking in QCD. Up to order T 2 this behavior carries over to the case of finite temperature.

We show that in a uniform medium, the vanishing of a particular condensate along with spontaneously broken symmetry imply the existence of an anomalously light pseudo-Goldstone mode. The consequences for a vanishing chiral condensate in nuclear matter are discussed.

We show that a recently constructed five–dimensional (5D) model with gauge– Higgs unification and explicit Lorentz symmetry breaking in the bulk, provides a natural dark matter candidate. This is the lightest Kaluza–Klein particle odd under a certain discrete Z2 symmetry, which has been introduced to improve the naturalness of the model, and resembles KK–parity but is less constraining. The dar...

In models of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking which sensitively involve the third generation, such as top quark condensation, the effects of the new dynamics can show up experimentally in Z → bb. We compare the sensitivity of Z → bb and top quark production at the Tevatron to models of the new physics. Z → bb is a relatively more sensitive probe to new strongly coupled U(1) gauge bosons,...

Here we review the approach to glassy systems based on the replica method and we introduce the main ingredients of replica symmetry breaking. We explain why the replica method has been successful in spin glass and why it should be successful for real glasses.

Charge independence and charge symmetry are approximate symmetries of nature, violated by the perturbing effects of the mass difference between up and down quarks and by electromagnetic interactions. The observations of the symmetry breaking effects in nuclear and particle physics and the implications of those effects are reviewed.

We consider a proposal that the masses of fermions in the Standard Model are determined by dynamical symmetry breaking. Rather than being introduced as arbitrary parameters in the Lagrangian, they are determined self-consistently by the requirement that the proper self-energy vanish on the fermion mass shell. We find in the one-loop approximation that it is possible to generate a heavy top quar...
