For a Noetherian local domain (R, m, K), it is an open question whether strong F–regularity deforms. We provide an affirmative answer to this question when the canonical module satisfies certain additional assumptions. The techniques used here involve passing to a Gorenstein ring, using an anti– canonical cover.

This paper presents a novel treatment of the canonical extension of a bounded lattice, in the spirit of the theory of natural dualities. At the level of objects, this can be achieved by exploiting the topological representation due to M. Ploščica, and the canonical extension can be obtained in the same manner as can be done in the distributive case by exploiting Priestley duality. To encompass ...

We use experiments to test comparative statics predictions of canonical tournament theory. Both the roles of principal and agent are populated by human subjects, allowing us to test predictions for both incentive responses and optimal tournament design. Consistent with theory, we observed an incentive effect from raising the winner’s prize. However, we also observed several empirical puzzles th...

In this article we prove the existence of a canonical theta structure for the canonical lift of an ordinary abelian variety.

The algebra of constraints arising in the canonical quantization of N=1 supergravity in four dimensions is investigated. Using the holomophic action it is shown that the algebra does not close formally.

A gravitational field can be defined in terms of a moving frame, which when made noncommutative yields a preferred basis for a differential calculus. It is conjectured that to a linear perturbation of the commutation relations which define the algebra there corresponds a linear perturbation of the gravitational field. This is shown to be true in the case of a perturbation of Minkowski space-time.

James Allen defined a calculus of time intervals by ident i fying time intervals as pairs of real numbers, and considering binary relations that can hold between such pairs [Alll83]. We call this the Interval Calculus. We consider the system of interval time units defined in [Lad86.2] (the T U S ) , which was intended for the natural representation of real clock time on any scale. We introduce ...

It is well known that proposers have an advantage in the canonical model of bargaining in legislatures: proposers are sure of being part of the coalition that forms, and, conditional on being in a coalition, a player receives more as a proposer than as a coalition partner. In this paper I show that, if parties di¤er in voting weight, it is possible for a party to donate part of its proposing pr...

We study a modification of the Hoppensteadt-Izhikevich canonical model for networks of class I neurons, in which the ‘pulse’ emitted by a neuron is smooth rather than a δ-function. We prove two types of results about synchronization and desynchronization of such networks, the first type pertaining to ‘pulse’ functions which are symmetric, and the other type in the regime in which each neuron is...

We develop a supersymmetric representation of the Hubbard operators which unifies the Slave Boson and Slave Fermion representations, allowing a second-quantized treatment of Hubbard operators with both symmetric and anti-symmetric character. We provide a simple example of the application of this method to the atomic limit of the Hubbard model and discuss its more general application to the infi...
