α-Isocyanoacetamides, acyl chlorides and dialkylacetylenedicarboxylates undergo a smooth multicomponent reaction to produce dialkyl 2-acyl-5-aminofuran-3,4-dicarboxylates in good yield. The scope and mechanism of this new multicomponent transformation are discussed.

Aryl-substituted allylic chlorides are accommodated by a self-assembled cage in such a restricted orientation that the internal reaction sites are shielded while the external ones are exposed. This non-covalent protection enhances terminal regioselectivity in the allylic substitution.

Stable commercial primary ammonium chlorides were combined with tertiary amines to initiate the controlled ring opening polymerisation of amino acid N-carboxyanhydrides to yield polypeptides with defined end group structure, predetermined molar mass and narrow molar mass distribution.

The content of chlorides, nitrites, nitrates, phosphates and sulphates was used to classify 45 donkey's milk samples collected from different Italian regions. A method employing ion exchange chromatography with conductivity detector and chemical suppression was used. The quantitative results indicated phosphates (569.4-1304.4 mg kg(-1)) and chlorides (545.9-1757.9 mg kg(-1)) as being the most a...

A series of new benzimidazolium halides were synthesized in good yields as unsymmetrical N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) precursors containing the N-CH₂-arene group. The benzimidazolium halides were readily converted into ruthenium(II)-NHC complexes with the general formula [RuCl₂(η⁶,η¹-arene-CH₂-NHC)]. The structures of all new compounds were characterized by ¹H NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance), ...

Stable enols were synthesized from the reaction of (1Z,3Z)-1,4-dilithio-1,3-dienes with acid chlorides and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray analysis. These stable enols were formed by a novel de-aromatization/Michael addition/re-aromatization domino process.

The title compound, C(12)H(22)NSi(+)·Cl(-), contains two formula units in the asymmetric unit and is a hydro-chloride salt in which the amine N atom is protonated and the NH(3) (+) group forms hydrogen bonds with the Cl(-) anion, forming a ribbon in the c-axis direction.

Using density functional theory with the B3LYP and M06 functionals, we show conclusively that the (H(2)IMes)(Cl)(2)Ru olefin metathesis mechanism is bottom-bound with the chlorides remaining trans throughout the reaction, thus attempts to effect diastereo- and enantioselectivity should focus on manipulations that maintain the trans-dichloro Ru geometry.

Photoluminescent compounds showing emission color changes in response to external stimuli have received considerable attention because of their wide range of applications. Here, we report the unique photoluminescence behavior of a digold(I) coordination system with trigonal-planar Au(I) centers, [Au2(dppm)3](2+) (dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane). This system shows an extremely intense phos...
