This study assessed whether there are differences in marginal fit between laser-fusion and conventional techniques to produce fixed dental prostheses (FDPs). A master steel die with 2 abutments was produced to receive a posterior 4-unit FDPs and single copings. These experimental models were divided into three groups (n = 20/group) manufactured: group 1, Ni-Cr alloy, with a lost-wax casting tec...
In orthopedics, occasionally, different types of metals are used in applications which they contact with each other. However, few studies have electrochemically investigated the galvanic corrosion orthopedic implants formed metals. this study, Ti–6Al–4V ELI alloy, Co–Cr–Mo and 316L type stainless steel, a newly developed Zr–1Mo alloy as low-magnetic susceptibility material was evaluated saline....
BACKGROUND Recasting the base metal alloys is done as a routine procedure in the dental laboratories whenever there is casting failure or to decrease the unit cost of a fixed partial denture. However, this procedure may affect the metal ceramic bond. Furthermore, it is unclear, as to which test closely predicts the bond strength of metal-ceramic interface. The aim was to compare the bond streng...
Significantly increased aCtlVlfY of Cr(CO)6 was achieved for the stereoselective homogeneous hydrogenation of methyl sorbate and tmns,trans-conjugated fatty esters at ambient temperature and pressure by exposing the catalyst to UV irradiation (3500.'1.) in a solvent mixture of cyclohexane-acetonitrile (20:1). In this solvent mixture, methyl sorb ate was converted quantitatively at ambient condi...
We report the synthesis of Co-Mo alloy nanoparticles with a uniform distribution of the alloy elements on CeO2via sodium naphthalenide-driven reduction. The resulting sample functions as a highly efficient and stable catalyst for ammonia synthesis. Based on the metal weight, the catalytic activity is ca. 20 times higher than that of Co3Mo3N.
Previous experimental work by Gundel and Wawner showed that the matrix alloy has a strong effect on reaction layer growth in Ti alloy/SCS-6 composite systems. A finite difference technique was used to model the reaction layer growth, which predicts the same trends as those exhibited by the experimental data. Matrix alloying elements such as Mo and Cr in metastable R alloys will affect the equil...
The CO-releasing ability of a diverse library of primary metal carbonyl complexes has been assessed using a deoxymyoglobin-carbonmonoxymyglobin assay. A wide spectrum of rates for the CO-release process was observed in aqueous systems. For octahedral d(6) complexes, the rate was found to decrease in the sequence FeI(2)(CO)(4) > [NEt(4)][V(CO)(6)] > MnBr(CO)(5) > Cr(CO)(6) implying that CO-relea...
Total knee replacement implants consisting of a Co-29Cr-6Mo alloy femoral component and a Ti-6Al-4V tibial component are the basis for the additive manufacturing of novel solid, mesh, and foam monoliths using electron beam melting (EBM). Ti-6Al-4V solid prototype microstructures were primarily α-phase acicular platelets while the mesh and foam structures were characterized by α(')-martensite wi...
A green chemistry route of synthesis using direct sunlight irradiation for the reactions of [M(CO)(6)] M=Cr, Mo or W with 2-[2-(methylaminoethyl)] pyridine (maepy) in THF. The reactions resulted in the formation of the oxo complex [Cr(2)(O)(4)(maepy)(2)] (1) and the tetracarbonyl complexes [Mo(CO)(4)(maepy)] (2) and [W(CO)(4)(maepy)] (3). The prepared complexes were characterized by elemental a...
