A new four-node (non-flat) general quadrilateral shell element for geometric and material non-linear analysis is presented. The element is formulated using threedimensional continuum mechanics theory and it is applic able to the analysis of thin and thick shells. The for mulation of the element and the solutions to various test and demonstrative example problems are presented and discussed.
Unique bayberry-like MFI zeolites are synthesized through a quasi-solid-state crystallization approach. This hierarchical zeolite structure has a relatively thick shell, densely grown nanocrystals with an ordered packed channel, high mechanical stability, high surface area and a low Si/Al ratio. Its catalytic efficiency for methanol-to-aromatics is significantly higher than that of conventional...
The paper presents a dynamic loading analysis of material carried out by the exploding wire method (EWM). A composite cylinder is chosen as an experimental sample. It thick-walled made polymethyl methacrylate with axial bore formed therein, pressed into aluminium shell. sample was loaded applying electric voltage to conductor in form copper placed inside An equation state for explosion obtained...
Heat transfer in the mold is the heart of the continuous casting process and its quantitative analysis was pioneered by Keith Brimacombe. With many different processes currently competing, it is appropriate to apply modeling to investigate the theoretical limits of continuous casting speed and productivity. The heat transfer rate during solidification processes drops with time so the shell thic...
Abstract An important performance index of explosive is the driving ability fragment. A new fragment test device proposed in this paper. Taking spherical tungsten as object, influence thin shell and thick structure on was analyzed combined with TNT WY-1 explosives. The results show that designed can effectively distinguish different explosives to fragments. And simulation are good agreement exp...
Composite stiffened cylindrical shells are widely used as primary elements in aerospace structures. In the recent years, there has been a growing research interest in optimum design of composite stiffened cylindrical shell structures for stability under buckling load. This paper focuses upon the development of an efficient optimization of ring-stringer stiffened cylindrical shell. The opti...
Heat transfer mechanisms and the solidification process are simulated for a continuous casting machine and the geometric shape of the liquid pool is predicted considering different conditions. A heat transfer and solidification model is described for the continuous casting of steel slabs. The model has been established on the basis of the technical conditions of the slab caster in the con...
Sn doped CuO nanotubes were synthesized by thermal oxidization of Cu/SnO(2) core-shell nanowires in air through the Kirkendall effect. The Cu/SnO(2) core-shell nanowires were sequentially electrodeposited by forming a SnO(2) shell followed by electrodeposition of the Cu core. After thermal treatment in air, the core-shell Cu/SnO(2) (13 +/- 2 nm thick shell on 128 +/- 15 nm in diameter core) nan...
Proteins exhibit a variety of dense phases ranging from gels, aggregates, and precipitates to crystalline phases and dense liquids. Although the structure of the crystalline phase is known in atomistic detail, little attention has been paid to noncrystalline protein dense phases, and in many cases the structures of these phases are assumed to be fully amorphous. In this work, we used small-angl...
