We demonstrate an easy-to-manufacture 25-mm-long ultra-stable optical reference cavity for transportable photonic microwave generation systems. Employing a rigid holding geometry that is first-order insensitive to the squeezing force and a cavity geometry that improves the thermal noise limit at room temperature, we observe a laser phase noise that is nearly thermal noise limited for three freq...
An injection-locked clock recovery circuit (CRC) with quadrature outputs based on multiplexed oscillator is presented. The CRC can operate at a half-rate speed to provide an adequate locking range with reasonable jitter and power consumption because both clock edges sample the data waveforms. Implemented by 0.18-μm CMOS technique, experimental results demonstrate that it can achieve the phase n...
Effects of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and dibutyryl cyclic adenosine monophosphate (dbc AMP) on the Na+-K+ pump of cell membrane were studied by testing the effects of these nucleotides on the 22Na+-efflux from frog skeletal muscle fibres. The rate coefficient of 22Na+-efflux was found to be significantly increased by ATP 3 mM. Dbc AMP 3 mM showed no demonstrable effect. These results support...
We present an optical frequency divider based on a 200 MHz repetition rate Er:fiber mode-locked laser that, when locked to a stable optical frequency reference, generates microwave signals with absolute phase noise that is equal to or better than cryogenic microwave oscillators. At 1 Hz offset from a 10 GHz carrier, the phase noise is below -100 dBc/Hz, limited by the optical reference. For off...

This paper presents a 25-MHz fully-integrated digitally controlled crystal oscillator (DCXO) with automatic amplitude control (AAC). The DCXO is based on Colpitts topology for one-pin solution. The AAC circuit is introduced to optimize the phase noise performance. The automatic frequency control is realized by a 10-bit thermometer-code segmental tapered MOS capacitor array, ensuring a 35 ppm tu...
This paper studies a practical multi-factory job allocation and scheduling problem involving inland and maritime transport limits. A new heuristic called Due-date Based Cut-off rule (DBC) is developed to improve the computational efficiency of both exact and genetic algorithms (GA). Except the application of DBC, this proposed GA is guided by a novel fuzzy controller aimed at eliminating the dr...
A differential-voltage-controlled LC oscillator employs a gm-tuned technique instead of a varactor is presented, verified, and measured. The design was demonstrated in a standard 0.18m CMOS process. The oscillator can operate at the range of 4.73–5.05 GHz under a 1.8-V supply voltage. The measured phase noise is 100.76 dBc/Hz at 100-kHz frequency offset and 121.53 dBc/Hz at 1-MHz frequency offs...
A 65-GHz Class-C LC oscillator designed in 65nm CMOS technology by ST Microelectronics is presented. A three spiral transformer has been used to achieve low phase noise and low power consumption. Post-layout simulations show a phase noise is equal to -88.4 dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset from the carrier (65.8 GHz). The power consumption is 14 mW with 1.2-V supply voltage. The oscillator is capable to o...
This paper presents a 20 GHz push-push VCO realized by a 10 GHz super-harmonic coupled quadrature oscillator for a quadrature 60 GHz frequency synthesizer. The output nodes are peaked by a tunable second harmonic resonator. The proposed VCO is implemented in 65 nm CMOS process. It achieves a tuning range of 3.5 GHz from 16.1 GHz to 19.6 GHz with a phase noise of −106 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. The...
