Changes in the expression of α₇ nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (α₇ nAChRs) in the human brain are widely assumed to be associated with neurological and neurooncological processes. Investigation of these receptors in vivo depends on the availability of imaging agents such as radioactively labelled ligands applicable in positron emission tomography (PET). We report on a series of new ligands f...

From a soil isolate, Pseudomonas strain C18, we cloned and sequenced a 9.8-kb DNA fragment that encodes dibenzothiophene-degrading enzymes. Nine open reading frames were identified and designated doxABDEFGHIJ. Collectively, we refer to these genes as the DOX pathway. At the nucleotide level, doxABD are identical to the ndoABC genes that encode naphthalene dioxygenase of Pseudomonas putida. The ...

The 4,6-bis(10-mesityl-5,15-di-p-tolylporpyrinyl)dibenzothiophene (H4DPSN) free base was obtained in five steps from commercially available materials. The metalation of DPSN2- with zinc(II), copper(II), and palladium(II) led to three new homobimetallic systems, (Zn)2DPSN, (Cu)2DPSN, and (Pd)2DPSN, respectively. The cofacial structures of these molecules offer the possibility of having dioxygen ...
