A 1978 case report in the Journal described a 25-year-old man with disseminated osteogenic sarcoma whose metastases regressed after treatment with diet and intensive meditation. Thirty years later, there has been no recurrence of his cancer, and a recent pneumonectomy for chronic bronchiectasis revealed mature cancellous bone in the resected lung. The man is otherwise well.

A case of progressive vaccinia complicating chronic lymphocytic leukaemia is reported. At necropsy a vaccinial pneumonia, focal pancreatitis, and evidence of disseminated intravascular coagulation were found. Epithelial proliferation was noted in sweat glands, bronchi, and pancreatic ducts associated with lesions in these sites. The significance of these findings is discussed.

A case of disseminated nocardiosis caused by Nocardia arthritidis in an immunocompromised patient with a history of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and rheumatoid arthritis is presented. This report highlights the use for multilocus sequence typing (MLST) in addition to single gene molecular sequencing to identify rare Nocardia species.
