Prior to recent advances in computational electromagnetics, a deterministic timedomain simulation of a wireless channel was deemed too expensive to implement. Conventionally, wireless channel designers use more practical measurement-based techniques, involving statistical models or channel transfer functions [1–3]. However, despite their convenience, such techniques can be inaccurate and lead t...

Complex numbers play an important role in practical applications and fundamental theorems in various fields of engineering such as electromagnetics, communication, control theory, and quantum mechanics. The application of complex numbers to neural networks has recently attracted attention because they tend to improve the learning ability and conform to the abovementioned applications (Hirose, 2...

 This paper deals with the electromagnetic field computation in biological tissues. It is actually one of the important challenges for the computational electromagnetics community for the next years. The major difficulties that appear are related to the material properties, to the formulation of the electromagnetic problem and to the thermal model of the human body.

This paper is concerned with the fast iterative solution of linear systems arising from finite difference discretizations in electromagnetics. The sweeping preconditioner with moving perfectly matched layers previously developed for the Helmholtz equation is adapted for the popular Yee grid scheme for wave propagation in inhomogeneous, anisotropic media. Preliminary numerical results are presen...

In this paper we demonstrate the use of loosely-coupled adaptive loops created from already available software components. Using interoperable functions, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the adaptive loops through two examples, an electromagnetics simulation and a metal forming simulation. Both are completely automated and give accurate results.

This tutorial paper provides a general overview of the hierarchy of problems involving electromagnetic scattering by particles and clarifies the place of the radiative transfer theory and the theory of coherent backscattering in the context of classical electromagnetics. The self-consistent microphysical approach to radiative transfer is compared with the traditional phenomenological treatment....
