We describe a possible search for muonic radioactivity from lead nuclei using the base elements (“bricks” composed by lead and nuclear emulsion sheets) of the long-baseline OPERA neutrino experiment. We present the results of a Monte Carlo simulation concerning the expected event topologies and estimates of the background events. Using few bricks, we could reach a good sensitivity level.

Event-condition-action rules, in active database systems, should be performed carefully, because their firings can produce inconsistent states in database systems. In this paper, an ECA rule base simulator is described, named ECAPNSim, which uses a Conditional Colored Petri Net model to depict ECA rules. It can model ECA rules, simulate their behavior, and perform a static analysis.

Wireless sensor network increases its application in industrial field as well as in consumer application very rapidly. Its growth increases day by day. Sensor node normally senses the physical event from the environment such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure etc. Sensor nodes are connected with each other through wireless medium such as infrared or radio waves it depends on application...

Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon 440-740, South Korea Summary Many sensor network applications are dependent on the secure operation of networks, and will have serious outcome if the network is disrupted or injured. Bogus reports can be injected through the compromised nodes, which can lead to not only false alarms but also the depletion of limited energy resource. Ye et al. proposed a statistica...

This document defines mechanisms that provide an asynchronous message notification delivery service for the Network Configuration protocol (NETCONF). This is an optional capability built on top of the base NETCONF definition. This document defines the capabilities and operations necessary to support this service. This paper describes a technique for the smooth integration of production rules into an active Object-Oriented Database (OODB) system that provides Event-Condition-Action (ECA) rules only, called DEVICE. The emphasis is given on the compilation of rule conditions into a discrimination network for incremental matching at run-time. The network consists of primitive, logical and complex events, th...

INTRODUCTION Nocebo effects are defined as adverse events related to negative expectations and learning processes that are involved in the modulation of the descending pain pathways. Research over the last couple of decades has illustrated that behavioral, psychoneurobiological and functional changes occur during nocebo-induced pain processing. OBJECTIVES We aimed to review published human an...

The paper discusses problems arising in development of avionics systems and considers how discrete-event simulation on the base of architecture models at the early stages of avionics design can help to mitigate some of them. A tool for simulation of AADL architecture models augmented by behavioural specifications is presented and its main design decisions are discussed.

In this paper, we experimentally implement an intrusion detection system using WLAN under the situation where many base stations are observed. Our system detects an event by measuring the received signal strength indication (RSSI) of a WLAN signal. The detection algorithm and the decision rule are presented and the effectiveness of the system is demonstrated through the measurement results.
