In this paper, a technique to identify the filter bank coefficients of Wavelets db4 and coif5 using adaptive filter NLMS algorithm is presented. Filter bank coefficients of the wavelet are treated as the weight vector of adaptive filter, changes with each iteration and approach to the desired value after little iteration. When we compare the two adaptive algorithms viz. Least Mean Square (LMS) ...

We present a filter bank approach to perform independent component analysis (ICA) for convolved mixtures. Input signals are split into subband signals and subsampled. A simplified network performs ICA on the subsampled signals, and finally independent components are synthesized. The proposed approach achieves superior performance than the frequency domain approach and faster convergence with le...

Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI) are an interesting emerging technology that is driven by the motivation to develop an effective communication interface translating human intentions into a control signal for devices like computers or neuroprostheses. If this can be done bypassing the usual human output pathways like peripheral nerves and muscles it can ultimately become a valuable tool for paral...

In this paper we propose oversampled three channels FIR filter banks [FB]. Channels are selected likewise which gives the result near perfect reconstruction filter bank. The inband aliasing is significantly reduced by selecting proper frequency spectrum and design of filters of filter banks. This design gives the result of oversampled FIR filter bank for two dimensional MRI image with peak sign...

The flexibility of a software-defined radio (SDR) depends on its capability to operate in multi-standard wireless communication environments. The most computationally intensive part of wideband receivers is the channelizer, which extracts multiple narrowband signals from adjacent frequency bands. In an SDR receiver, the compatibility of the channnelizer with different communication standards is...

Common spatial pattern (CSP) is becoming a standard way to combine linearly multi-channel EEG data in order to increase discrimination between two motor imagery tasks. We demonstrate in this article that the use of robust estimates allows improving the quality of CSP decomposition and CSP-based BCI. Furthermore, a scheme for electrode subset selection is proposed. It is shown that CSP with such...

In this paper, a spatio-spectral-temporal filter considering an inter-channel correlation is proposed for the denoising of a color filter array (CFA) sequence acquired by CCD/CMOS image sensors. Owing to the alternating under-sampled grid of the CFA pattern, the inter-channel correlation must be considered in the direct denoising process. The proposed filter is applied in the spatial, spectral,...

Common spatial pattern (CSP) is widely used for constructing spatial filters to extract features for motor-imagery-based BCI. One main parameter in CSP-based classification is the number of spatial filters used. An automatic method relying on Rayleigh quotient is presented to estimate its optimal value for each subject. Based on an existing dataset, we validate the contribution of the proposed ...

Pattern recognition by optical spatial filtering procedures is discussed using general considerations with the objective of reducing the information content in the spatial filter. The achievement of this objective is very useful toward the wide application of spatial light modulators and also for facilitating distortion invariant recognition. The proposed novel approach is demonstrated by an ex...

This paper proposes an efficient method for the design of Pseudo Quadrature mirror filter (QMF) bank. Parent filter of the filter bank is designed using new class of adjustable window functions. Filter coefficients are optimized by varying the cutoff frequency. A comparative analysis is included to confirm the validity of the proposed work.
