We present the microscopic kinetic theory of a homogeneous dilute Bose condensed gas in the generalized random phase approximation (GRPA), which satisfies the following requirements: 1) the mass, momentum and energy conservation laws; 2) the H-theorem; 3) the superfluidity property and 4) the recovery of the Bogoliubov theory at zero temperature . In this approach, the condensate influences the...

We present a high-precision determination of the universal contact parameter in a strongly interacting Fermi gas. In a trapped gas at unitarity, we find the contact to be 3.06±0.08 at a temperature of 0.08 of the Fermi temperature in a harmonic trap. The contact governs the high-momentum (short-range) properties of these systems, and this low-temperature measurement provides a new benchmark for...

BACKGROUND Chronic cough is a common problem, frequently caused or exacerbated by acid reflux. Diagnosis of acid reflux cough is haphazard currently, often relying on long therapeutic trials of expensive medications. We tested the hypothesis that the most relevant mechanistic component of acid reflux in chronic cough is when it rises to the level of the airway where acid can potentially be aspi...

Recently the authors used the Kadanoff-Baym non-equilibrium Green's function formalism to derive kinetic equation for the non-condensate atoms, in conjunction with a consistent generalization of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation for the Bose condensate wavefunction. This work was limited to high temperatures , where the excited atoms could be described by a Hartree-Fock particle-like spectrum. We p...

Many new results have poured forth from RHIC ( √ s = 130A GeV). Several appear to be qualitatively different from those at the SPS ( √ s = 17A GeV). “Dynamical” fluctuations in the average transverse momentum, pt, are almost three times larger than at the SPS [1]. Observed HBT radii are small, ∼ 5−7 fm [2], and average transverse boost velocities are large, ∼ .6 c [3]. In particular, that the H...

The spectacular demonstration of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in gases of alkali atoms 87Rb, 23Na, 7Li confined in magnetic traps[1, 2, 3] has led to an explosion of interest in confined Bose systems. Of interest is the fraction of condensed atoms, the nature of the condensate, the excitations above the condensate, the atomic density in the trap as a function of Temperature and the critical...

Bose-Einstein condensates of quasiparticles such as exciton-polaritons, magnons and massive photons allow for new experimental possibilities as compared to the atomic Bose-Einstein condensates. In this Thesis we focus on a condensate of photons, first created at Bonn University in 2010. One of the recent achievements is the measurement of number fluctuations in such a condensate of photons. We ...

Exhaled breath condensate (EBC) pH is considered to reflect the acid-base balance of the airways. Current pH measurements do not take into account the effect of CO2. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of condensate CO2 partial pressure on pH and to provide a more precise mode of EBC pH determination. Condensate pH and CO2 partial pressure were measured in parallel from 12 ...

In an earlier paper (J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 26 (1993) 4689) we introduced the notion of cycle percolation in the Bose gas and conjectured that it occurs if and only if there is Bose-Einstein condensation. Here we give a complete proof of this statement for the perfect and the imperfect (mean-field) Bose gas and also show that in the condensate there is an infinite number of macroscopic cycles.
