Glioblastomas of children and young adults have a median survival of only 12-15months and are clinically and biologically distinct from histologically similar cancers in older adults1. They are defined by highly specific mutations in the gene encoding the histone H3.3 variant H3F3A2, occurring either at or close to key residues marked by methylation for regulation of transcription – K27 and G34...

Recent studies suggest that Denosumab reduces tumor size, therefore, makes the surgery easier with lowermorbidity. However, some studies have reported several complications for this drug. So, this systematic reviewwas performed to determine the effectiveness and safety of Denosumab in reducing bone destructions activity ofgiant cell tumor and skeletal-related events (SRE) in affected patients w...

ABSTRACT Background: Cholesterol cleft granulomas with clusters of giant cells were noted to be a common feature of non-specific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP). Objective: This study aimed to define the cell populations involved in the granulomas. Methods: The granulomas of 16 patients with cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis (five cases with the histological features ofNSIP, five with those ofUIP...

A primary giant cell tumor of the rib is very rare. The most common site of a giant cell tumor arising from the rib is the posterior arc. A giant cell tumor arising from the anterior arc of the rib is extremely rare. The treatment of a giant cell tumor of the rib is not well defined. Generally, a complete surgical resection is performed in a patient with a primary giant cell tumor of the rib. W...

Giant cell tumor is a locally aggressive benign tumor. Giant cell tumor of bone is characteristically found in skeletally mature patient at the end of long bones in the epiphyseal region or epiphysio-metaphyseal region. Giant cell tumor is very rare in skeletally immature patient. But we are presenting a very rare case of giant cell tumor in skeletally immature patient in diaphyseal region whic...

background: the aim of this study was to quantify the number of mast cells in focal reactive hyperplastic lesions of the oral cavity and to compare these two number of mast cells in normal gingival tissues and to correlate their presence with the state of connective tissue changes in reactive lesions and probably suggest a role for mast cells in these lesions. materials and methods: patient rec...

BACKGROUND Glioblastomas are the most frequent type of malignant primary brain tumor with a median overall survival less than 15 months. Therapy resistance of glioblastomas has been attributed to the presence of tumor initiating stem-like cells (TSCs). TSC-related markers have therefore been suggested to have promising potentials as prognostic markers in gliomas. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDING...

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are directly involved in the progression in various cancers. To date, no systematic researches have been performed on the expression pattern of miRNA during progression from low grade gliomas to anaplastic gliomas or secondary glioblastomas and those prognostic miRNAs in anaplastic gliomas and secondary glioblastomas. In the present study, high-throughput microarrays were use...

Giant cell tumor of soft parts is a rare tumor that is clinically and histologically similar to giant cell tumor of the bone. We present a 53-year-old female with a giant cell tumor of low malignant potential arising from the neck. The clinicopathological features and the importance of immunohistochemistry in the differential diagnosis with other giant cell rich tumors was discussed.
