The structure of the title compound, [Fe(2)(C(17)H(16)N(2)O(2))(2)(OH)(2)]·2C(3)H(7)N, consists of centrosymmetric dimeric units in which crystallographically equivalent Fe(III) ions are doubly bridged by hydroxide groups. Each Fe(III) center in the complex has a six-coordinated distorted cis-FeN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry.
Molecularly well-defined Ni sites at heterogeneous interfaces were derived from the incorporation of Ni2+ ions into heteroatom-doped graphene. The molecular Ni sites on graphene were redox-active. However, they showed poor activity toward oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in KOH aqueous solution. We demonstrated for the first time that the presence of Fe3+ ions in the solution could bond at the v...
The presence of Fe-oxidizing bacteria in the rhizosphere of four different species of wetland plants was investigated in a diverse wetland environment that had Fe(II) concentrations ranging from tens to hundreds of micromoles per liter and a pH range of 3.5 to 6.8. Enrichments for neutrophilic, putatively lithotrophic Fe-oxidizing bacteria were successful on roots from all four species; acidoph...
Ferric sludge pollution and unsustainable utilization of Fe(II) reagent were tough nuts to crack for homogeneous Fenton treatment. Previous regeneration methods are still limited by high consumption or low rate. In this work, granular was introduced into the biocathode microbial electrolysis cell (MEC), improve Fe(II)-regeneration rate from actual ferric at near neutral pH. Wastewater constitue...
BACKGROUND Several medicaments have been used to devitalize remaining pulp or maintain pulp vitality and promote healing. Based on pulpal biocompatibility and good sealing ability, a growing interest in more biocompatible materials promotes mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) as an alternative to traditional medicaments. Uniquely, MTA can preserve pulpal health predictably and promote healing with...
The photochemical oxidation of Fe(2+) -hydroxide complexes dissolved in anoxic Precambrian oceans has been suggested as a mechanism to explain the deposition of Banded Iron Formations (BIFs). Photochemical studies have not yet addressed the low levels of manganese in many of these deposits, which probably precipitated from solutions bearing similar concentrations of Fe2+ and Mn2+. Depositiona...
Pulpotomy therapy for the primary dentition has developed along three lines: devitalization, preservation, and regeneration. Devitalization, where the intent is to destroy vital tissue, is typified by formocresol and electrocautery. Preservation, the retention of maximum vital tissue with no induction of reparative dentin, is exemplified by glutaraldehyde and ferric sulfate treatment. Regenerat...
