PURPOSE To compare outcomes of bone marrow transplants for leukemia from HLA-identical siblings, haploidentical HLA-mismatched relatives, and HLA-matched and mismatched unrelated donors. PATIENTS A total of 2,055 recipients of allogeneic bone marrow transplants for chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) were entered onto th...

We have investigated the role of antigen-processing machinery (APM) component defects in HLA class I antigen down-regulation in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) lesions and assessed the clinical significance of these defects. To this end, 63 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor lesions were examined for APM component and HLA class I antigen expression by immunohistochemistry. Calnexin...

Abstract Major histocompatibility (MHC) bound viral peptides are the immune signatures to initiate selective and cross-reactive T cell responses. Identifying antigenic targets of adaptive immunity SARS-CoV-2 is a key towards understanding pathogenesis Sars-CoV-2 rapidly evolving mutants. We isolated immunopeptidomes identify naturally processed presented MHC-II (HLA-DR, HLA-DP) MHC-I (HLA-ABC) ...

Background: Natural Killer (NK) cells, through mechanisms such as cytotoxicity and cytokine production, are among the first line of defence against infections. The ability of NK cytotoxicity is related to Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIR) found on the cell surface. Interaction between KIRs and human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I molecules regulate NK cells responses to eliminate...

HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, and HLA-D typing was performed in 47 mothers of patients suffering from ocular toxoplasmosis to investigate whether an immunogenetic predisposition exists for developing congenital toxoplasmosis in their offspring. No significant association between any HLA antigen was observed in the mothers of patients with ocular toxoplasmosis, although a total absence of the HLA-B51 ant...

Forty-five patients suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus were studied in respect of their serologically defined HLA antigens. HLA-B8 antigen was found in 37-8% of patients as compared to 22% of controls. Individuals carrying the HLA-B8 antigen have a 2-15 times greater risk of developing systemic lupus erythematosus than those not carrying this antigen.

Abstract Activation of CD8 +T cells against pathogens and cancers involves the recognition antigenic peptides presented in complex with human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class-I proteins. Peptide binding to HLA-I proteins is coordinated by a multi-protein called peptide loading (PLC). Tapasin, key PLC component, facilitates optimization peptides. However, different allotypes have variable requireme...

Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is consisted of cluster genes known as human leukocyte antigen HLA, these are committed to process and present antigens T lymphocyte. Corona viruses, belonging a genus the corona viridae family, enveloped viruses containing single stranded RNA 27-32 kb. This study was conducted highlight some observations that may help other researcher for rapid research a...

Antigen presentation by HLA class I (HLA-I) and HLA class II (HLA-II) complexes is achieved by proteins that are specific for their respective processing pathway. The invariant chain (Ii)-derived peptide CLIP is required for HLA-II-mediated antigen presentation by stabilizing HLA-II molecules before antigen loading through transient and promiscuous binding to different HLA-II peptide grooves. H...
