The present paper studies the possibility of propagation of torsional surface waves in an inhomogeneous anisotropic layer lying between two heterogeneous half-spaces (upper and lower half-space). Both the half-spaces are assumed to be under compressive initial stress. The study reveals that under the assumed conditions, a torsional surface wave propagates in the medium. The dispersion relation ...

How the contact behaviours of steel engineering surfaces with different roughnesses ( R a = 0.1, 0.6 and 1.0 μm) are affected by asperity work-hardening deformation regime described here. Large values plasticity index Ψ between 20 50 indicate that all should undergo full plastic deformation. However, in loading range up to yield stress (on nominal area) rough exhibited at least 10% elastic defo...

Confined geometries offer useful and experimentally amenable mechanical testing arrangements in which to study the molecular micro-structural processes govern plastic yield stress environments dominated by hydrostatic pressure over shear. However, changes macroscopic strain behaviour that result from switching an unconfined mode such as uniaxial compression a confined one are often overlooked d...

The “Montserrat-2000” severe flash flood event which occurred over Catalonia on 9 and 10 June 2000 is analyzed. Strong precipitation was generated by a mesoscale convective system associated with the development of a cyclone. The location of heavy precipitation depends on the position of the cyclone, which, in turn, is found to be very sensitive to various model characteristics and initial cond...

A novel single shear specimen (SSS) together with a correction coefficient method is used to study the deformation behavior of 304 stainless steel under loadings. Shear stress-shear strain relations over wide range rates (0.001 39000 s?1) at three initial temperatures (77 473 K) are obtained experimentally. The effects rate and temperature on flow stress curves determined. With increasing or te...

A general nonlinear theory for the elasticity of prestressed single crystals is presented. Various types elastic moduli are defined, their importance determined, and relationships between them In particular, $\mathbit{B}$ present in relationship Jaumann objective time derivative Cauchy stress deformation rate broadly used computational algorithms various finite-element codes. Possible applicati...

Background: Cryopreservation of ovaries is an important technique in assisted reproduction technology. Physical forces like hydrostatic pressure have a pivotal role in reproduction systems. Due to changes in intrafollicular pressure during ovulatory process, this study designed to examine the effects of hydrostatic pressure on oocyte maturation and cell death in cumulus cells from cryopreserved...

In this paper, drain-source current, transconductance and cutoff frequency in AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors have been investigated. In order to obtain parameters of exact AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors such as electron density, the wave function, band gap, polarization charge, effective mass and dielectric constant, the hydrostatic pressure and temperature effects a...

Abstract Using density-functional theory-based molecular dynamics simulations, we study stress and temperature-induced chemical reactions in bulk systems containing triphosphoric acid zinc phosphate molecules. The nature of the products depends sensitively on imposed conditions, e.g., isotropic even more so shear create (zwitter-) ionic products. Free ions also emerge from thermal cycles, but a...

Prompt controlled reperfusion of a pulmonary allograft in a sequential double lung transplant may correct cellular ischemia prior to exposure to full hydrostatic pressures and minimize organ dysfunction. We reviewed the process of a sequential double lung transplant and describe the technique of controlled antegrade graft reperfusion of the initial implant as performed at our institution.
