The early growth stage and growth evolution to a unique gold (Au) honeycomb nano-network on Si(111)7×7 at room temperature have been studied by direct filled-state and empty-state imaging by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The gold honeycomb structure is made up of six triangular gold clusters around the corner hole interconnected to one another in the dimer rows of the Si(111)7×7 substrate.

lasers, [ 9–11 ] biomedical imaging, [ 12,13 ] and sensors. [ 14,15 ] Currently, CdSe NCs as the workhorse have been well developed for such uses. [ 16–32 ] Despite their apparent advantages (high emission quantum yields, narrow emission line width, good photostability, etc. [ 33–37 ] ), the intrinsic toxicity of CdSe NCs makes them environmentally restricted, which has thus cast a doubtful fut...

Recently, solid-phase recrystallization of ultrathin indium antimonide nanocrystals (InSb NCs (films grown on SiO2/Si substrate is very attractive, because of the rapid development of thermal annealing technique. In this study, the recrystallization behavior of 35 nm indium antimonide film was studied. Through X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, it is demonstrated that the InSb film is composed o...

Driven by interactions due to the charge, spin, orbital, and lattice degrees of freedom, nanoscale inhomogeneity has emerged as a new theme for materials with novel properties near multiphase boundaries. As vividly demonstrated in complex metal oxides (see refs 1-5) and chalcogenides (see refs 6 and 7), these microscopic phases are of great scientific and technological importance for research i...

the adsorption of 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (2-mbi) on au(111) has been studied withcyclic voltammetry (cv), in-situ subtractively normalised interfacial ft-ir spectroscopy (sniftirs)and scanning tunnelling microscopy (stm). although adsorbed 2-mbi reduces the interfacial capacityand quenches the characteristic features of the cyclic voltammogram for sulfate adsorption, heterogeneous electron tran...

Patients who are human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) antibody positive are at increased risk of life threatening infection. Scintigraphic imaging with Ga-67 citrate has been used to identify the presence and site of focal infection. However, focal accumulation of Ga-67 is not specific for infection. A retrospective study was performed to compare the accuracy of Ga-67 citrate and pooled human pol...

The survival of red cells labelled with indium-111 oxine in the circulation was determined. In vivo distribution at equilibrium and sites of deposition at the T50In--that is, the half life of labelled red cells--were quantitated with a scintillation camera and computer assisted image analysis. Although the rate of elution. Of 111In from the red cells was higher than that of chromium-51-disodium...

BACKGROUND Monocytes play a key role in atherogenesis, but their participation has been discerned largely via ex vivo analyses of atherosclerotic lesions. We sought to establish a noninvasive technique to determine monocyte trafficking to atherosclerotic lesions in live animals. METHODS AND RESULTS Using a micro-single-photon emission computed tomography small-animal imaging system and a Food...

BACKGROUND Activated platelets can be found on the surface of inflamed, rupture-prone and ruptured plaques as well as in intravascular thrombosis. They are key players in thrombosis and atherosclerosis. In this study we describe the construction of a radiolabeled single-chain antibody targeting the LIBS-epitope of activated platelets to selectively depict platelet activation and wall-adherent n...
