This paper presents a symmetry analysis based on Lie groups of a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) modelling the p53mdm2 regulatory pathway. This pathway is being investigated across several research groups as a biological system from which to extract dynamical and algebraic characteristics relevant to the emerging concept of Interaction Computing. After providing a conceptual mo...

We introduce the concept of algebra eigenstates which are defined for an arbitrary Lie group as eigenstates of elements of the corresponding complex Lie algebra. We show that this concept unifies different definitions of coherent states associated with a dynamical symmetry group. On the one hand, algebra eigenstates include different sets of Perelomov’s generalized coherent states. On the other...

A fast diffusion equation is investigated with symmetry point of view. The set of exact non-Lie solutions constructed by M.L. Gandarias [Phys. Lett. A, 2001,V.286, 153-160] are supplemented with the similar ones. The non-classical symmetries of the corresponding potential equation are completely classified with respect to the Lie symmetry group of this equation. As a result, we obtain new wide ...

The presence of a (Lie-point) symmetry for a differential equation leads naturally to the useful notions of symmetric sets of solutions, i.e. of sets which are mapped into themselves by the symmetry, and of orbits of solutions. We introduce the definition of partial symmetry, and show that the above notions may be preserved, although the symmetry is not exact. We consider the quite exceptional ...

We give an account of the construction of exterior differential systems based on the notion of tableaux over Lie algebras as developed in [33]. The definition of a tableau over a Lie algebra is revisited and extended in the light of the formalism of the Spencer cohomology; the question of involutiveness for the associated systems and their prolongations is addressed; examples are discussed.

Hom-Lie algebras are non-associative, non-commutative algebras generalizing Lie algebras by twisting the Jacobi identity by a homomorphism. The main examples are algebras of twisted derivations (i.e., linear maps with a generalized Leibniz rule). Such generalized derivations appear in all parts of number theory, so hom-Lie algebras appear to have a natural role to play in many number-theoretica...

We describe an interesting relation between Lie 2-algebras, the Kac– Moody central extensions of loop groups, and the group String(n). A Lie 2-algebra is a categorified version of a Lie algebra where the Jacobi identity holds up to a natural isomorphism called the ‘Jacobiator’. Similarly, a Lie 2-group is a categorified version of a Lie group. If G is a simply-connected compact simple Lie group...

We classify from Lie symmetry standpoint the hyperbolic heat equation with temperature-dependent medium properties. We prove that the hyperbolic heat equation may admit a two-, three-, fouror infinitedimensional symmetry Lie algebra depending on the functional form of density, thermal conductivity, and specific heat. The last possibility corresponds to exactly linearizable hyperbolic heat equat...
