Let G be a graph. Denote by L(G) its i-iterated line graph and denote by W (G) its Wiener index. Dobrynin, Entringer and Gutman stated the following problem: Does there exist a non-trivial tree T and i ≥ 3 such that W (L(T )) = W (T )? In a series of five papers we solve this problem. In a previous paper we proved that W (L(T )) > W (T ) for every tree T that is not homeomorphic to a path, claw...

Insertional mutagenesis is an important tool for functional genomics in Drosophila melanogaster. The insertion site in the KG00562 mutant fly line has been mapped to the CG8709 (herein named DmLpin) locus and to the 3' of kermit (also called dGIPC). This mutant line presents a high lethality rate resulting from a gain of function. To obtain some insight into the biological role of the mutated l...

For a compact set E with connected complement in the com plex plane we consider a problem of the uniform approximation on E by the weighted polynomials W z Pn z where W z is a continuous non vanishing weight function on E analytic in the interior of E Let A E W be the set of functions uniformly approximable on E by such weighted polynomials If E has empty interior then A E W is completely char ...

Over the last decade, methods of web corpus construction and the evaluation of web corpora have been actively researched. Prominently, the WaCky initiative has provided both theoretical results and a set of web corpora for selected European languages. We present a software toolkit for web corpus construction and a set of siginificantly larger corpora (up to over 9 billion tokens) built using th...

A basic topic in mining of massive dataset is finding similar items. As an example, finding similar documents can be recommended. In this case many methods are existed. For example, Shingling method and length based filtering are one of them. In Shingling method, from each document, substrings have been selected with symbol name and, they are placed on one set. For finding similar documents, th...

Trope theory is the view that the world is a world of abstract particular qualities. But if all there is are tropes, how do we account for the truth of propositions ostensibly made true by some concrete particular? A common answer is that concrete particulars are nothing but tropes in compresence. This answer seems vulnerable to an argument (first presented by F. H. Bradley) according to which ...

This paper describes marimunl likelihood estirncr-tion techniques for performirlg rover localizatio?t in natural terrain by matching range ntaps. An OCCUpancy map of the local terrain isgertef'ated usirigstcreo visiou. The positioa of the rover rvith respect to a previously generated occupancy map M then computed by comparing the maps using a probabdistic formulation of [[ausdoz-ff matching iec...

Using WZ-pairs we present simpler proofs of Koecher, Leshchiner and BaileyBorwein-Bradley’s identities for generating functions of the sequences {ζ(2n+2)}n≥0 and {ζ(2n + 3)}n≥0. By the same method, we give several new representations for these generating functions yielding faster convergent series for values of the Riemann zeta function.
