Hoveyda-Grubbs type catalysts with cationic tags on NHC ligands were linker-free immobilized on the surface of lamellar zeolitic supports (MCM-22, MCM-56, MCM-36) and on mesoporous molecular sieves SBA-15. The activity of prepared hybrid catalysts was tested in olefin metathesis reactions: the activity in ring-closing metathesis of citronellene and N,N-diallyltrifluoroacetamide decreased in the...

An ordered mesoporous carbon, CMK-3, was synthesized using a mesoporous siliceous material, SBA-15, as the template. CMK-3 was characterized and used for the adsorption of fullerenes C60 and C70. It was found that the adsorption capacity of CMK-3 is 4 times higher than that of activated carbon. The adsorption equilibrium isotherms of C60 and C70 on CMK-3 were studied for both single and binary ...

The encapsulation of homogeneous chiral catalysts, e.g. Co(Salen) and Ru-TsDPEN, in the mesoporous cage of SBA-16 is demonstrated; the encapsulated catalysts show performance as good as that of the homogeneous catalysts, and can be recycled for more than 10 times without significant loss of catalytic performance.

Gallic acid has been covalently conjugated to SBA-15 mesoporous silica surface through different linkers. Cytotoxic activity of the hybrid organic-inorganic systems against HeLa and KB cell lines has been analyzed. Up to 67% of HeLa or KB tumor cells growth inhibition has been achieved at low silica concentration used (10 μg mL(-1)).

Tungsten oxide nanoclusters supported highly ordered mesoporous SBA-15 material has been successfully synthesized in a single step using a non-ionic surfactant as a template and used for the selective oxidation of sulfur compounds, giving excellent yields at room temperature with exceptional catalyst recyclability.

Highly regio- and stereoselective hydrothiolation of a wide range of alkynes with various thiols was demonstrated in the presence of a well-defined Rh complex supported on mesoporous SBA-15 silica. The catalyst was easily recovered and reused several times without significant loss of activity or selectivity.

A new type of radionuclide extraction material is reported based on phosphonate functionalities covalently anchored on the mesopore surface of 3-D cubic mesoporous silica (KIT-6). The easily prepared nanoporous hybrid shows largely superior performance in selective sorption of uranium and thorium as compared to the U/TEVA commercial resin and 2-D hexagonal SBA-15 equivalent.

A new bis(indenyl)zirconocene bearing a pendant Si-Cl anchor has been grafted onto MCM-41, SBA-15, MCM-48 and a disordered mesoporous silica for the polymerisation of ethylene and propylene, producing polymers with very high molecular weights, low polydispersities and, in the case of polypropylene, higher levels of isotacticity than obtainable with analogous homogeneous systems.

Two hybrid materials based on mesoporous silicas SBA-15 and MCM-41 functionalized with stable and electrically neutral Gd(iii) macrocyclic complexes were prepared, and their (1)H NMR relaxometric properties investigated as a function of temperature and magnetic field strength.

Catalytic pyrolysis behavior of synthesized microporous catalysts (conventional Zeolite Socony Mobil–5 (C-ZSM-5), highly uniform nanocrystalline ZSM-5 (HUN-ZSM-5) and β-zeolite), Mesoporous catalysts (highly hydrothermally stable Al-MCM-41 with accessible void defects (Al-MCM-41(hhs)), Kanemite-derived folded silica (KFS-16B) and well-ordered Al-SBA-15 (Al-SBA-15(wo)) were studied with waste po...
