Many animals produce and respond to signals made up of multiple components. For example, many avian sexual displays are highly extravagant combinations of visual and acoustic elements, and are described as being 'multicomponent'. One possible reason for the evolution of such complex signals is that they provide more reliable information for receivers. However, receivers also influence signal ev...

We calculate multicomponent line-driven wind models of stars at extremely low metallicity suitable for massive first generation stars. For most of the models we find that the multicomponent wind nature is not important for either wind dynamics or for wind temperature stratification. However, for stars with the lowest metallicities we find that multicomponent effects influence the wind structure...

RNA viruses exhibit a variety of genome organization strategies, including multicomponent genomes in which each segment is packaged separately. Although multicomponent genomes are common among viruses infecting plants and fungi, their prevalence among those infecting animals remains unclear. We characterize a multicomponent RNA virus isolated from mosquitoes, designated Guaico Culex virus (GCXV...

In this brief paper, we extend the notion of multicomponent signal into multiple dimensions. A definition for multidimensional instantaneous bandwidth is presented and used to develop criteria for determining the multicomponent nature of a signal. We demonstrate application of the criteria by testing the validity of a multicomponent interpretation for a complicated nonstationary texture image.

The removal of ionisable drugs (fluoxetine, sulfamethizole and antipyrine) from aqueous solution was performed by conventional adsorption using carbonaceous aerogel pellets as adsorbents. Although >96 % elimination achieved for antipyrine after 1440 min, only 2.5 fluoxetine removed. In a multicomponent system, the presence these three in leads to fivefold depletion adsorbed total mass. Thus, au...

Abstract. We generalize the symmetric fourth q-Painlevé equation (q-PIV) to the noncommutative setting. Considering the symmetric q-PIV to be matrix valued, well-defined multicomponent systems are obtained. The ultradiscrete limit of these systems yields coupled multicomponent ultradiscrete systems that generalize ultradiscrete PIV. The dynamics, and specifically the integrability, of the newly...

The target echo of downward-looking radar can be simulated by a multicomponent Chirp signal with noise, which makes signal detection and parameter estimation a very important processing. Aiming at the problems of error detection caused by the cross-terms in WVDHough methods and other modified WVD distribution methods, and low precision due to poor time-frequency concentration in S-Hough transfo...

INTRODUCTION Nonpharmacological therapies (NPTs) can improve the quality of life (QoL) of people with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and their carers. The objective of this study was to evaluate the best evidence on the effects of NPTs in AD and related disorders (ADRD) by performing a systematic review and meta-analysis of the entire field. METHODS Existing reviews and major electronic databases w...
