Plasma membrane (PM) phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate [PI(4,5)P2] regulates the activity of many ion channels and other membrane-associated proteins. To determine precursor sources of the PM PI(4,5)P2 pool in tsA-201 cells, we monitored KCNQ2/3 channel currents and translocation of PHPLCδ1 domains as real-time indicators of PM PI(4,5)P2, and translocation of PHOSH2×2, and PHOSH1 domains as...

We study (vertex-disjoint) P2-packings in graphs under a parameterized perspective. Starting from a maximal P2-packing P of size j we use extremal arguments for determining how many vertices of P appear in some P2-packing of size (j+1). We basically can ’reuse’ 2.5j vertices. We also present a kernelization algorithm that gives a kernel of size bounded by 7k. With these two results we build an ...

In this article we apply the Stenberg criteria to show that the Taylor-Hood P2 − P1 and the Scott-Vogelius P2 − discP1 element pairs satisfy the LBB condition in IR. The Taylor-Hood P2 − P1 pair is shown to be stable on a regular triangulation of the domain. For the ScottVogelius P2−discP1 element pair the mesh is assumed to be a barycenter refinement of a regular triangulation.

The mutation lg of phage P2 has been located on the genetic map of P2 to the right of, and closely linked to, the del2 deletion, probably within tail gene F. The lg mutation causes larger burst sizes, compared with the wild type, especially at high incubation temperatures. The frequency of defective particles is lower in preparations of P2 lg than in those of wild type P2. It seems that the mut...

BACKGROUND Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4α) plays an important role in tumourigenesis. There is growing evidence indicating that HNF4α transcribed by promoter 1 (P1-HNF4α) is expressed at relatively low levels in HCC and its presence predicts a favourable outcome for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. However, the role of HNF4α transcribed by promoter 2 (P2-HNF4α) in HCC remains ...

Integrons, mobile genetic units, capture and incorporate antibiotic resistance gene cassette by site-specific recombination. Class 1 integrons are widespread and associated with dispersion of antibiotic resistance among Gram-negative bacteria. The expression of gene cassette in Class 1 can vary, based on the Pc promoter but seldom from another promoter hiding downstream of Pc, called P2. To pro...

Phosphoinositides regulate several actin-binding proteins but their role at intercellular adhesions has not been defined. We found that phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2) was generated at sites of N-cadherin-mediated intercellular adhesion and was a critical regulator of intercellular adhesion strength. Immunostaining for PI(4,5)P2 or transfection with GFP-PH-PLCdelta showed that...

Arca subcrenata is documented in the literature of marine Traditional Chinese Medicine. Polypeptide fraction from A. subcrenata, coded as P2, was demonstrated to possess significant antitumor activity in our previous study. However, the underlying mechanism remains undefined. The present study was carried out to investigate the underlying antitumor mechanism of P2 in human cervical cancer HeLa ...

Acidic ribosomal phosphoproteins P0, P1 and P2 were isolated in soluble form from silkworm ribosomes and tested for their interactions with each other and with RNA fragments corresponding to the GTPase-associated domain of residues 1030-1127 (Escherichia coli numbering) in silkworm 28S rRNA in vitro. Mixing of P1 and P2 formed the P1-P2 heterodimer, as demonstrated by gel mobility shift and che...

The PI3K signaling pathway regulates cell growth and movement and is heavily mutated in cancer. Class I PI3Ks synthesize the lipid messenger PI(3,4,5)P3. PI(3,4,5)P3 can be dephosphorylated by 3- or 5-phosphatases, the latter producing PI(3,4)P2. The PTEN tumor suppressor is thought to function primarily as a PI(3,4,5)P3 3-phosphatase, limiting activation of this pathway. Here we show that PTEN...
