The infiltration of palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs) into the channels of SBA-15 was conveniently achieved via an incipient wetness procedure employing a tetraglyme solution. Electron tomography demonstrated that PdNPs were outgrown preferentially from the channels. The resultant Pd/SBA-15 showed high performance in the dehydrogenation kinetics of ammonia borane.

Suzuki-Miyaura cross-couplings of arenediazonium salts with arylboronic acids catalyzed by highly active aluminium hydroxide-supported palladium nanoparticles catalyst have been investigated for the first time. The reactions are performed at 25 °C in MeOH without any base and ligand to afford biaryls in good to excellent yields under non-anhydrous and non-degassed conditions.

Palladium nanoparticles have been deposited onto imidazolium bromide-functionalized ionic MWCNTs through hydrogen reduction of Na2PdCl4 in water without aid of surfactants under extremely mild conditions, and combined with an ionic liquid to create a new recyclable ionic liquid-based catalytic system allowing up to 50 times recycling.

Palladium nanoparticles supported over poly(vinyl)chloride matrix (PVC-Pd(0)) are prepared through an efficient and inexpensive protocol. The catalyst has been characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM and its utility for the reduction of a range of functional groups as well as for the removal of some common protecting groups employed in peptide chemistry is demonstrated.

A facile approach has been developed for non-covalently stabilising pristine C60 and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in water in the presence of p-phosphonic acid calix[8]arene, along with the formation of a 'pea-pod' encapsulation of the fullerene inside the MWCNTs. Aqueous dispersions of the different carbon nano-materials are readily decorated with palladium nanoparticles.

The utilization of perfluoro-tagged palladium nanoparticles immobilized on fluorous silica gel through fluorous-fluorous interactions (Pd(np)-/FSG) or linked to silica gel by covalent bonds (Pd(np)-) in the alkynylation of terminal alkynes with aryl halides under aerobic, copper- and phosphine-free conditions in water, and their recovery and re-utilization, is described.

Palladium nanoparticles were captured onto spherical silica particles using a molecular band composed of imidazolium chloride and urea moieties to form raspberry-like Pd@SiO2 composites, which can be recovered and reused without any loss of catalytic activity in Suzuki-Miyaura coupling.

Two nanocrystalline palladium-supported tin oxide catalysts for water denitration were synthesized by a modified sol–gel technique using appropriate chloride precursors for both support and active phases, and citric acid to tune the rate of hydrolysis and condensation. The difference among sample preparation procedures refers to the moment of the noble metal loading to the support, as well as t...
