Line patterns produced by lamellae- and cylinder-forming block copolymer (BCP) thin films are of widespread interest for their potential to enable nanoscale patterning over large areas. In order for such patterning methods to effectively integrate with current technologies, the resulting patterns need to have low defect densities, and be produced in a short timescale. To understand whether a gi...

Quantitative measurements of scattering properties are invaluable for optical techniques in medicine. However, noninvasive, quantitative measurements of scattering properties over a large wavelength range remain challenging. We introduce low-coherence spectroscopy as a noninvasive method to locally and simultaneously measure scattering μ(s) and backscattering μ(b) coefficients from 480 to 700 n...

We present a novel approach for the ultra-rapid direct patterning of complex three-dimensional, stacked polystyrene (PS) microfluidic chips. By leveraging the inherent shrinkage properties of biaxially pre-stressed thermoplastic sheets, microfluidic channels become thinner and deeper upon heating. Design conception to fully functional chips can thus be completed within minutes.

Flow cytometric measurements of light scattering of polystyrene calibration beads revealed remarkable Lissajous-like loops in two-parameter scatter plots. The existence of such loops is shown to be in qualitative agreement with Lorenz-Mie scattering theory of homogeneous spheres. The occurrence of these patterns reflects the extreme particle size dependency of perpendicular light scattering of ...

We report experimental results on the speed of a receding contact line, in a vertical deposition configuration, during the deposition of polystyrene colloidal particles. We study the effects of the initial concentration of the suspension and compare the measured speeds with the corresponding dried deposit. It is observed that multilayer structures are associated with high speeds. This result is...

The relaxation dynamics of a rubbed polystyrene (PS) surface have been characterized using infrared-visible sum frequency generation spectroscopy (SFG). The SFG results were compared with previous relaxation of retardation measurements, and the results show that the rubbed PS surface has the same T(g) as the bulk where T(g) is defined as tau(T(g))=5 s, however, the surface has a lower activatio...

Abstract The present study aims to analyze the potential of mealworms ( Tenebrio Monitor ) used for biodepolymerization waste papers, plastics and polystyrenes. various influencing factors were analyzed such as: temperature, light intensity, moisture content energy sources. was conducted with two types feeding cases that first was, polystyrene fed oats (Avena sativa) above wastes added directly...
