To study the biological and behavioral process of the recent drastic fertility decline in China, the authors reviewed relating factors (proximate determinants) and applied the Bongaarts model to the population of China for the years 1971 and 1981, during which the fertility rate dropped most rapidly and substantial population control policies were performed. By application of the model, the de...

distribution of population depends on the distribution of goods and services. the distribution of population is very important not only for its effects on different aspects of population but also because of its relations with the general features of area. programmers can control the distribution of the population if they control the distribution of goods and services. the purpose of the present...

In this paper, sufficient conditions are investigated for the existence of periodic (not necessarily positive) solutions for nonlinear several time delay population system with feedback control. Nonlinear system affected by an periodic external source is studied. Existence of a control variable provides  the extension of  some previous results obtained in other studies. We give a illustrative e...

This paper considers decentralized control and optimization methodologies for large populations of systems, consisting of several agents with different individual behaviors, constraints and interests, and affected by the aggregate behavior of the overall population. For such large-scale systems, the theory of “mean field” games and control has been successfully applied in various scientific dis...

We present a model for an SIR epidemic in a population consisting of two components—locals and migrants. We identify three equilibrium points and we analyse the stability of the disease free equilibrium. Then we apply optimal control theory to find an optimal vaccination strategy for this 2-group population in a very simple form. Finally we support our analysis by numerical simulation using the...

This thesis presents the design, analysis, and validation of a hierarchical transactive control system that engages demand response resources to enhance the integration of renewable electricity generation resources. This control system joins energy, capacity and regulation markets together in a unified homeostatic and economically efficient electricity operation that increases total surplus whi...

Optimal control theory is applied to a system of ordinary differential equations modeling Buruli ulcer transmission in population. We apply controls on mass treatment, insecticide and mass education to minimize the number of infected hosts and infected vectors as well as infected fishes. The model takes into account human, water bug and fish populations as well as MU in the environment. The hos...

In this paper, we develop a multi-scale model to describe the particle growth in a fluidized bed reactor. Population balance model is presented to describe the dynamical behavior of particle size distribution. Stability analysis is derived to determine the control configuration for the complex particulate process. Inventory control strategy is applied to control the particle size distribution.

Natural populations may be managed by humans for a number of reasons, with mathematical modelling playing an increasing role in the planning of such management and control strategies. In an increasingly heterogeneous, or ‘patchy’ landscape, the interactions between distinct groups of individuals must be taken into account to predict meaningful management strategies. Invasive control strategies,...

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease found in about one third of the world population. There is some controversy on the role of exogenous reinfection; with some epidemiologists supporting it while others consider it irrelevant. However, even at a minimal level, the presence of exogenous reinfection is capable of generating hysteresis and supporting multiple endemic states when the basic reproduction ...
