Intrathoracic goiter is commonly located in the anterior mediastinum. Here we report a case of a 58-year-old Chinese male in whom we successfully removed the intrathoracic goiter and eased his dyspnea by a right posterolateral thoracotomy approach. Posterior mediastinal thyroid goiter with mediastinal compressive symptoms is an indication of surgery.
Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of posterolateral approach to ankle arthroscopy in management of ankle fractures. Methods: Between March 2014 and May 2016, 68 patients with ankle fractures treated in our hospital were enrolled as subjects and randomly assigned to receive either standard open reduction (the control group, n=34) or the posterolateral approach to ankle arthroscopy...
BACKGROUND We have already discovered 23 patients during the work of the outpatient department and operations whose unstable signs on the posterolateral ankle. The anterior drawer test demonstrated normal during the physical examinations while the spaces of the posterior tibiotalar joints increased in stress X-ray plain films. ATFL intact and posterolateral ligaments lax were found during opera...
Injuries to the posterolateral corner of the knee continue to be a complex problem for orthopedic surgeons. Early recognition and treatment are important factors in the patient's long-term outcome. To properly treat these patients, the surgeon must have a clear understanding of the anatomic relationships amongst the structures in the posterolateral knee. This knowledge combined with a thorough ...
Background Subclavian and axillary arteries true aneurysms are rarely seen. The best incision for surgical approach is median sternotomy for intrathoracic right subclavian artery aneurysm, left thoracotomy for intrathoracic left subclavian artery aneurysm and supraclavicular incision for extrathoracic ones. Many surgeons approaches as subclavicular incision, subclavicular incision extending to ...
Bilateral posterior interosseous nerve palsy in a rheumatoid patient is described. Six previous case reports and our experience indicate that steroid injection into the elbow may not produce lasting recovery and may lead to unacceptable delay before surgical decompression. An anterolateral approach for division of the arcade of Frohse is effective in cases with diffuse synovitis; where there is...
L5S1 fracture-dislocations are rare three-column injuries. The infrequency of this injury has led to a lack of a universally accepted treatment strategy. Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) has been shown to be an effective approach for interbody fusion in degenerative indications, but has not been previously reported in the operative management of traumatic lumbosacral dislocation. T...
Surgical treatment of medial and lateral knee injuries using repair and/or reconstruction techniques is often necessary to restore knee ligament stability and optimize function. Successful execution of these repairs and reconstructions requires a sound understanding of basic anatomy and biomechanics. Against this backdrop, numerous repair and reconstruction techniques have been developed. Altho...
