In this paper we describe an algorithm for producing infinitely many examples of set-theoretic complete intersection monomial curves in P n+1 , starting with a single set-theoretic complete intersection monomial curve in P n. Moreover we investigate the numerical criteria to decide when these monomial curves can or cannot be obtained via semigroup gluing.
In recent years the Open Data philosophy has gained a considerable momentum. In the public realm the free release of PSI datasets, besides enabling novel and promising forms of governmental accountability, paves the way to third-party developed products and services. Nevertheless, PSI re-use performed by private sector entrepreneurs is struggling to take-off due to the presence of numerous inhe...
When datasets are distributed on different sources, finding out their intersection while preserving the privacy of the datasets is a widely required task. In this paper, we address the Privacy Preserving Set Intersection (PPSI) problem, in which each party learns no elements other than the intersection of the N private datasets. We propose an efficient protocol based on a threshold cryptosystem...
As with many min-max characterizations, proving one of the inequalities is straightforward. For any U ⊆ S and I ∈ I1 ∩ I2, we have |I| = |I ∩ U |+ |I ∩ (S \ U)| ≤ r1(U) + r2(S \ U), since I ∩ U is an independent set in I1 and I ∩ (S \ U) is an independent set in I2. Therefore, maxI∈I1∩I2 |I| ≤ minU∈S (r1(U) + r2(S \ U)). The following important examples illustrate some of the applications of th...
In the private matching problem, a client and a server each hold a set of n input elements. The client wants to privately compute the intersection of these two sets: he learns which elements he has in common with the server (and nothing more), while the server gains no information at all. In certain applications it would be useful to have a fuzzy private matching protocol that reports a match e...
Recently, Greece experienced a financial crisis unprecedented in its modern history. In May of 2010 Greece signed a bailout memorandum with Troika (a tripartite committee constituted by the European Central Bank, the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund). In February of 2012, they proceeded to a second bailout package along with a debt restructuring deal that included a priva...
This research examined how environmental attributes near intersections influence the perceived crash risk among school-aged children, which provides information on the potential risks of pedestrian crashes that can guide the development of proactive countermeasures. In a sample of 799 children aged 10-12 years old in Korea, the environmental attributes of intersections perceived as having a hig...
In this paper, we show that for any independence system, the problem of finding a persistency partition of the ground set and that of finding a maximum weight independent set are polynomially equivalent.
In this note, we study a constrained independent set problem for matroids and certain generalizations. The basic problem can be regarded as an ordered version of the matroid parity problem. By a reduction of this problem to matroid intersection, we prove a min-max formula. Studying the weighted case and a delta-matroid generalization, we prove that some of them are not more complex than matroid...
Classification of voluminous protein data based on the structural and functional properties is a challenging task for researchers in bioinformatics field. In this paper a faster, accurate and efficient classification tool Rough Set Protein Classifier has been developed which has a classification accuracy of 97.7%. It is a hybridized tool comprising Sequence Arithmetic, Rough Set Theory and Conc...
