We demonstrated a novel method of simultaneous compression and amplification of a weak laser pulse in a glass plate using cross-phase modulation in conjunction with four-wave optical parametric amplification that was pumped by an intense femtosecond pulse. A proof-of-principle experiment succeeded in smooth broadening of the weak pulse spectrum by a factor of about three and simultaneously ampl...

Purpose In Ayurveda, pulse diagnosis is the unique diagnostic method that determines the proportion of diagnostic variables (vata, pitta and kapha); however, this is only justifiable if pulse diagnosis yields a consistent result. Though pulse diagnosis has a long historical use, still there is lack of quantitative measures on e.g., reliability of the diagnostic method. Reliability means consist...

the range imaging based on conventional pulse compression technique requires lfm signal that sampled by nyquist rate. in order to high resolution increased in range in pulse compression, so the lfm bandwidth has to increase. consequently this procedure dictated limitations on adc sampling. the stretch processing is one of techniques decreasing nyquist rate in radars. in this method the nature o...

in this article the nonlinear mixed volterra-fredholm integral equations are investigated by means of the modied three-dimensional block-pulse functions (m3d-bfs). this method converts the nonlinear mixed volterra-fredholm integral equations into a nonlinear system of algebraic equations. the illustrative   examples are provided to demonstrate the applicability and simplicity of our   scheme.

Advances in signal processing techniques have provided effective tools for quantitative research in traditional Chinese pulse diagnosis. However, because of the inevitable intraclass variations of pulse patterns, the automatic classification of pulse waveforms has remained a difficult problem. Utilizing the new elastic metric, that is, time wrap edit distance (TWED), this paper proposes to addr...

This paper discusses a method of designing a matched filter for a passive microwave sensor. This sensor receives pulse signals transmitted by a target active radar. Received signals can be categorized into two types due to either the pulse signals or noise. The method first estimates an autocorrelation function of the received signals. The autocorrelation of the pulse signals is then extracted ...

Using a stability analysis based on the Lyapunov method, we study pulse dropout in an actively mode-locked fiber laser. The analysis gives a limit on the maximum pulse duration and the minimum laser power that are needed for stable operation without pulse dropout. The stability of pulse trains was studied analytically and validated numerically for different pulse shapes.

LEDs are likely to be used for general lighting applications due to their high efficiency and longer life. To cover wide output range on lighting application some of control methods are adopts. In the proposed method, the interleaved DCM fly back converter is favoured. DCM operation can accomplish high PF for wide output power range. To achieve high efficiency, new pulse duty cycle control meth...

Introduction: The Shinnar Le Roux (SLR) method [1,2,3] has been widely used to design slice selection pulse and two-dimensional (2D) RF pulse on EPI trajectory [4] due to the advantage of allowing tradeoffs among the in-slice ripple, out-of-slice ripple and transition. In this work, the SLR method is extended to design 2D pulse on arbitrary k-space trajectory. Firstly, 2D filter coefficients ar...

BACKGROUND Due to its easy applicability, pulse wave has been proposed as a surrogate of electrocardiogram (ECG) for the analysis of heart rate variability (HRV). However, its smoother waveform precludes accurate measurement of pulse-to-pulse interval by fiducial-point algorithms. Here we report a pulse frequency demodulation (PFDM) technique as a method for extracting instantaneous pulse rate ...
