Real-time locating systems (RTLS) have the potential to enhance healthcare systems through the live tracking of assets, patients and staff. This study evaluated a commercially available RTLS system deployed in a clinical setting, with three objectives: (1) assessment of the location accuracy of the technology in a clinical setting; (2) assessment of the value of asset tracking to staff; and (3)...

Jeong-Hyun Park et al. 405 ABSTRACT⎯ In this letter, we suggest a postal RFID application model and system architecture that can be used for real-time trace and tracking system implementation of parcel processing and pallet management. This letter also shows the tag recognition performance of parcels and pallets by speed and mounting tag materials such as cans, water, and paper using an impleme...

Construction site is rugged, dynamic, and complex, involving a large number of objects that continuously change their locations and occupied spaces. Being able to accurately locate site objects and track site dynamics is critical to project control. Automated locating technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) have proven to be beneficial in tracking some construction site objec...

In this paper, a Potential Bio-Disease Tracking and Tracing Algorithm based on RFID System (PBDT) is proposed. Bio-information of cultivation and disease prevention are important for the agriculture economy. The RFID system is used to record the information (cultivation history) and for identifying different objects.. In addition, the location (before and current) of the objects and the transpo...

This project focuses on the feasibility of utilizing the lower cost passive RFID technology to track electronic test equipment for Raytheon Company. Although developed for a specific storeroom at Raytheon Company’s Network Centric Division’s (NCD) laboratory in Goleta, California, the project concepts and design are applicable to many portal-based asset tracking systems. The first part of the p...

Herd management on large cattle ranches is a difficult task. Most functions on cattle ranches are done manually. As such, ranches stand to gain significant benefits with the aid of technology. In this paper, we present the design of NIMBLE, Networked Identification and Management of Bovine on Large Expanses. NIMBLE is an RFID based application that automates many functions that cattle ranchers ...

A control scheme is proposed for the backward line tracking problem of a truck with trailer. It combines two di erent regulators, one for backward motion and the other for forward, in a switching scheme that assures convergence to the desired line. The scheme has been implemented and successfully used to reverse a radio-controlled vehicle.

A state-space model for a small radio-controlled helicopter in hover is developed. Linear estimation is used to identify parameters of the model. The parameter variances are used to develop an uncertainty description of the system. An LQG controller with setpoint tracking is designed and implemented on this system.
