The chiral selectivities were altered and high diastereo- and enantio-selectivities of the products were obtained in water medium without adding acid co-catalysts when a primary-tertiary diamine catalyst was immobilized on mesoporous SBA-15 to form a recyclable catalyst for the direct asymmetric aldol reaction of cyclohexanone with p-nitrobenzaldehyde.

A novel method for the synthesis of 2,6-dihydroxy substituted chalcones via Claisen-Schmidt is introduced using recyclable PEG-400 as an alternative reaction solvent. The reaction is clean with excellent yield, shorter reaction time and reduces the use of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, mass spectroscopy and elemental analysis.

The facile and clean oxidative biaryl coupling reaction of thiophenes and pyrroles has been achieved using the recyclable hypervalent iodine(III) reagents having adamantane or methane structures. These iodine(III) reagents could be recovered from the reaction mixtures by a simple solid-liquid separation, i.e., filtration.
