We experimentally demonstrate emission of two quantum-mechanically correlated light pulses with a time delay that is coherently controlled via temporal storage of photonic states in an ensemble of rubidium atoms. The experiment is based on Raman scattering, which produces correlated pairs of spin-flipped atoms and photons, followed by coherent conversion of the atomic states into a different ph...

We report on the coherent quantum state transfer from a two-level atomic system to a single photon. Entanglement between a single photon (signal) and a two-component ensemble of cold rubidium atoms is used to project the quantum memory element (the atomic ensemble) onto any desired state by measuring the signal in a suitable basis. The atomic qubit is read out by stimulating directional emissio...

Rydberg spin-waves are optically excited in a quasi-one-dimensional atomic sample of Rb atoms. Pairwise spin-wave correlations are observed by a spatially selective transfer of the quantum state onto a light field and photoelectric correlation measurements of the light. The correlations are interpreted in terms of the dephasing of multiply excited spin-waves by long-range Rydberg interactions.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, Rb(+)·C(4)H(3)N(2)O(3) (-)·C(4)H(4)N(2)O(3)·H(2)O, consists of one rubidium cation, a barbituric acid mol-ecule, a barbiturate anion and one water mol-ecule. The rubidium ion has seven close-contact inter-actions with O atoms, with Rb⋯O distances ranging from 2.8594 (16) to 3.2641 (14) Å. These seven O atoms together with an eighth O atom at 3.492 (2) ...

Male and female Sprague-Dawley rats were fed purified diets in which the carbohydrate component was either starch or refined sugar (sucrose). The addition to these diets of the ash prepared by the incineration of unrefined muscovado sugar prevented the deficiencies of Factor R seen in the offspring when the diets were not supplemented with ash. Analysis by neutron activation showed that the ash...

We present a compact frequency-stabilized laser system locked to the Rubidium absorption line of a micro-fabricated reference cell. A Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is used to carry all the components and part of the electronics, and Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) modules are used to temperaturestabilize the laser diode and the miniature Rubidium cell (cell inner dimensions: 5 mm diameter...

In this mid-term we will study the dynamics of an atomic clock, mF which is one of the applications of David Wineland’s research (No bel prize in physics 2012). We consider a simplified (and sometime inaccurate) model of a vapor-cell atomic clock . Light from a lamp passes through a vapor of rubidium atoms housed in a glass cell and is detected by a photodiode. The light intensity transmitted ...

Optical frequency combs serve as the clockwork of optical clocks, which are now the best time-keeping systems in existence. The use of precise optical time and frequency technology in various applications beyond the research lab remains a significant challenge, but one that integrated microresonator technology is poised to address. Here, we report a silicon-chip-based microresonator comb optica...

Strontium-82 is produced by proton activation of a rubidium chloride target in an accelerator or cyclotron and purified by ion exchange chromatography. The Strontrium-82 is used in Cardigen generators to produce Rubidium-82 for cardiac imaging. Quality control testing of the purified Strontium-82 is performed with Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and gamma spec...

The effects of compression on the structural and electronic properties of liquid rubidium are studied along the melting curve by means of a first-principles molecular-dynamics simulation. It is shown that the calculated pair distribution functions g(r) are in good agreement with the experimental results for a wide range of pressures; the liquid rubidium is compressed uniformly at 2.5 GPa, and t...
