Fundamental theories of quantum gravity such as supergravity include a four form field strength which contributes to the cosmological constant. The inclusion of such a field into our theory of open inflation [1] allows an anthropic solution to the cosmological constant problem in which cosmological constant gives a small but non-negligible contribution to the density of today's universe. We inc...

Figure 4. Singularity formation when boundary conditions are such that the catenoid solution does not exist. 7 Figure 3. Limiting catenoid surface obtained from an initially cylindrical surface. is the minimal surface with the same xed boundary. Figure 3 shows the required catenoid. This surface was obtained as the limiting surface of a FEM evolution starting from a cylindrical initial surface ...

We analyse the classification of simple symmetric matrix singularities depending on two parameters which was obtained recently by Bruce and Tari [2]. We show that these singularities are classified by certain reflection subgroups Y of the Weyl groups X = Aμ, Dμ, Eμ. The Dynkin diagram of such a subgroup is obtained from the affine diagram of X by deleting vertices of total marking 2: deletion o...

We present a simple and practical technique for seamlessly texturing quadrilateral meshes. Using our technique any image can be converted to an isotropic texture that can be mapped to any quadrilateral mesh without any discontinuity or singularity. Using our technique, we can make any abstract painter like Miro to seamlessly paint any smooth manifold surface. The surface can have any number of ...

Abstract. Many practical data sets in environmental sciences, official statistics and various other disciplines are in fact compositional data because only the ratios between the variables are informative. Compositional data are represented in the Aitchison geometry on the simplex, and for applying statistical methods designed for the Euclidean geometry they need to be transformed first. The is...

Mass of singularity is defined, and its relation to whether the singularity is spacelike, timelike or null is discussed for spherically symmetric spacetimes. It is shown that if the mass of singularity is positive (negative) the singularity is non-timelike (non-spacelike). The connection between the sign of the mass and the force on a particle is also discussed.

We discuss the physical nature of elementary singularities arising in the complexified Maxwell field extended into complex spacetime, i.e., in Lanczos-Newman electrodynamics. We show that the translation of the world-line of a bare electric-monopole singularity into imaginary space is adding a magnetic-dimonopole component to it, so that it may be interpreted as a pseudo-scalar pion-proton inte...

This paper concerns the interaction between non-axisymmetric inertial waves and their corotation resonances in a hydrodynamical disk. Inertial waves are of interest because they can localise in resonant cavities circumscribed by Lindblad radii, and as a consequence exhibit discrete oscillation frequencies that may be observed. It is often hypothesised that these trapped eigenmodes are affiliate...

Rotation – Expansion – Translation – Reflection chaotic models show despite of its simple generators complex structures that resemble in 2 dimensions without referring to any material property well known fluid/flux vortex flow patterns as recently shown by Skiadas. Here the model is generalized and extended to n > 2 dimensions with N = n (n − 1)/2 rotational degrees of freedom and the maximum o...
