We report a rare case with a solitary fibrous tumor of the cheek. A 73-year-old male with cheek swelling referred to our hospital. At the initial visit, a movable tumor measuring 20 × 15 mm was palpable. Therefore, the patient underwent excisional biopsy of the tumor under general anesthesia. Immunohistochemical staining showed the tumor cells to be positive for CD34, without organization of sp...

Solitary fibrous tumors of the pleura are rare and benign primary localized tumors; they possess a malignant potential and thus should be excised. We report a case of a 43-year-old woman, who had suffered for 5 years from right basithoracic pain associated with progressive dyspnea and persistent hiccups during the last 6 months. We have not found any similar case in the literature. Further test...

On physical exam, a well-defined, firm, freely mobile 20-cm mass with intact, non-erythematous overlying skin was palpated in the medial-lower quadrant of the left buttock, contiguous to...

The solitary fibrous tumor is traditionally associated with a mesothelial-lined surface. However, any organ with mesenchymal tissue has the potential for developing this tumor; therefore, it has been described in organs not associated with serosal surfaces. We report a case of solitary fibrous tumor of the parotid gland. Microscopically, the tumor showed a patternless arrangement of spindle cel...

Dear Editor, Solitary fi brous tumours (SFTs) are rare, usually benign, mesenchymal tumours most commonly found in the pleura, where they were fi rst described in 1931.1 Subsequently, SFTs have been described in many other sites. To the best of our knowledge, SFTs arising from the colonic wall have not previously been reported. We report a case of an SFT arising within the wall of the rectosigm...

Solitary fibrous tumors are benign spindle-cell neoplasms, mostly originating from the visceral pleura. They are common in individuals aged 20-70 with no sex predilection. To our knowledge, this is the unique case of the solitary fibrous tumor originating from the accessory parotid gland in the literature.
